The King is expected to visit Donald Trump in Washington D.C. next week for the 250th anniversary of American independence, and reportedly planned to meet up with his estranged son while he was there. But that is apparently no longer the case, with the palace blaming scheduling conflicts for the change of plan.

The Plan Of King Charles And Prince Harry Meeting In Washington D.C. Has Been 'Scrapped'
An insider reportedly told Hello! that the plan to meet has now been "scrapped." And while critics may think it has something to do with recent reports claiming Prince Harry is using his children – son Prince Archie and daughter Princess Lilibet – as a "bargaining tool" in a "calculated move" to secure the private protection he has long wanted when his family visits the U.K., the insider insists it really is just a scheduling issue. But do we believe them?
The insider said: "The Duke loves his father, and of course, he would love to see his father as much as possible. But we are living in the real world. They both have very busy lives and things aren't always logistically or practically possible."
The palace hasn't said much about the matter, and simply released a statement confirming King Charles and Queen Camilla's upcoming trip, which will be between April 27th and April 30th. The statement read: "On advice of His Majesty's Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America."
"Their Majesties' programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence."
King Charles Previously Blamed Scheduling Conflicts For Not Meeting Prince Harry
Royal fans may recall that King Charles blaming scheduling conflicts for not meeting his son also happened back in 2024. The father and son could have met while Prince Harry was in the U.K. for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, but they didn't.
King Charles cited scheduling issues amid the ongoing royal feud, but reports have since alleged that there was more to it, with Queen Camilla reportedly warning against the meeting because she thought that Prince Harry always brings trouble with him.
An insider confirmed at the time that the King decided against the meeting because he "doesn't need the drama in his life."
Did The Plans Change Because Of Prince Harry's Recent Demands About Security?
An insider recently told London's Sunday Times that Prince Harry has been pressing the King for private security if he, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two children are to return to the U.K. this year – so perhaps this is the real reason why a meeting isn't happening now.
The insider said Prince Harry needs "an enhanced package of security, so he can stay as long as he wants whenever he wants, and see his father with the children." They added: "There is not a world in which he brings the kids back unless there is an enhanced security package around them."
The insider then said anyone would be "horrified by any suggestion of using the King's grandchildren as a form of bargaining tool."
