Could King Charles Abdicate The Throne?
According to reports, a palace insider has suggested that King Charles, 77, may consider abdicating, believing it could be what both his heir and the country would want. Crucially, if he were to step aside, King Charles would reportedly want the move to be viewed as measured and in the best interests of the institution – not as a sign of weakness or external pressure!
"The transition will look measured and dignified. Health provides the most unassailable explanation," an insider reportedly told celebrity journalist Rob Shuter on March 2nd, a few weeks after Andrew's arrest.
"Charles will not be seen as pushed," they went on, adding: "He has waited a lifetime for this role. When he steps back, it will be entirely on his terms."

As the current king works through his cancer diagnosis, which is looking a little less severe after he revealed he would be scaling back his treatment, folks have been curious as to whether or not he will choose to step down from the throne in the next year or so. Though some sources have said Charles is in no rush to move over, the palace is still allegedly making moves to get ready for a new era for the monarchy through the Prince and Princess of Wales, who, apparently, will bring some changes. There's also a lot of pressure on the couple as "tension" continues to rattle their relationships with the estranged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
"[They] have a totally different vision for the monarchy," revealed Meyers. "It needs to be accountable, it needs to speak to the younger generation, not only at home, but abroad. It also needs to create a system that works for the people, and certainly what they have tried to do is get their family home life right and then work on the public profile, and that's very, very different to how the monarchy has been structured in generations beforehand."
Other royal experts and reporters seem to be optimistic about the future, as well as the famous couple's abilities to work hard while also connecting with various generations.
"Prince William combines a strong sense of responsibility with a more informal and approachable manner that connects with many of the young people he meets," royal photographer Chris Jackson told Vanity Fair. "The Princess of Wales has a warmth and friendliness with many of the people she meets and is very natural with young people, always putting herself at their level and taking time to chat. Often, walks greeting the public are lengthened because she tries to meet as many people as possible."
