Kim Kardashian and North West can’t seem to stay out of headlines these days, with North constantly acting out and Kim receiving backlash for not having more of a handle on her. From dressing far older than a normal 12-year-old does, to getting finger piercings, and now performing live at music festivals, many critics are turning to Kim and calling out her parenting strategy.
Especially following her performance at Rolling Loud—in which North seemingly lip-synced for most of the set—all eyes are on Kim, who’s been actively promoting North’s foray into music. Fans online have questioned whether the exposure is appropriate for someone her age, while others argue that North is simply following in the footsteps of her famous parents. Should Kim be setting a better example for her kids, or at least better boundaries? Keep reading for more information.

Kim Kardashian Slammed For Poor Parenting
After releasing her first EP, N0rth4evr, earlier this month, the 12-year-old rapper achieved another first: a surprise performance at Rolling Loud, an Orlando-based music festival. Joining rapper Molly Santana on stage, the pair performed what seemed to be an unreleased collaboration.
However, viewers both online and in person were quick to notice that North seemed to be lip-syncing for most, if not all, of the event. This led to a lot of criticism across social media—aimed at Kim Kardashian, rather than North herself. Why let a child perform at a music festival if she’s not prepared for public performances?
This comes right off the heels of a lot of promotion from the Kardashian family, with Rob Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kris Jenner all posting on Instagram to celebrate North’s album drop. Kim has also spoken a lot about how she supports North’s interest in music by structuring her homeschool classes around it. But has she taken things too far? Many fans think so.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users lashed out at the SKIMS founder, leaving comments like, "Sometimes it's OK to tell your child NO," on X.
"I think it's time to admit you cannot buy talent for your kids," another person wrote.
"Kim enough is enough," said another on TikTok.
"This is getting out of hand," added the next, and a fourth agreed: "This is heading toward disaster."
"How about a mother who cares so much about her own appearance help take care of her daughter’s appearance?" asked another.
"Anything but schoolwork," one comment reads.
"This is honestly very disturbing and sad," another user said. "Normal 12 year olds are playing outside with friends and making friendship bracelets."
"I hate the idea of mocking a kid but this is just ridiculous," a final user wrote.
