Kate Middleton is a fashion icon with a signature style that countless people try to emulate. But every now and again, she also seeks sartorial inspiration from another unforgettable style maven: Princess Diana.
On Saturday, April 25th during the Anzac Day commemorations, one of London’s most solemn annual services honoring Australian and New Zealand service members, the Princess of Wales attended the wreath-laying ceremony and parade at the Cenotaph on Whitehall. And she appeared to pay sartorial tribute to her late mother-in-law with a striking and familiar navy and white ensemble.

Kate Middleton Honors The Late Princess Diana With Her Bespoke Givenchy Navy And White Coat Dress
The Princess of Wales looked radiant in a bespoke Givenchy coat dress by Sarah Burton – the same designer behind her iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress, of course. Eagle-eyed fashion fans were quick to point out the similarities to a Catherine Walker outfit worn by Princess Diana in 1995, when she presented new colors to the Light Dragoons regiment in Bergen, Germany. Check out some pictures of Diana's 'fit here.
Princess Diana's outfit consisted of a navy blue skirt that fell just above the knee, teamed with a blue blazer featuring striking white sleeves and lapels. She accessorized with a thin white waist-cinching belt and a coordinating blue and white hat. Princess Diana was fond of the navy and white and black and white color combos, having rocked them on several occasions in her life. Check out another one of our favorite two-color looks below...
The mom-of-three opted for a modernized take on her late mother-in-law's Catherine Walker ensemble, wearing a coat dress featuring an ankle-length navy blue skirt and a tailored blazer featuring a crisp white collar. She accessorized with blue heels and a blue hat by milliner Sean Barrett, which was more understated than Diana's original. She wore her hair in a half-up style to complement the headpiece and show off her sapphire and diamond earrings, which once belonged to Princess Diana.
