Donald Trump was not very sympathetic about the death of former FBI director Robert Mueller, who passed away at the age of 81 on March 20th. And his comments on his death unsurprisingly divided the internet.

Jimmy Kimmel, who is never shy about revealing his true feelings on the POTUS, was not divided in the slightest, and slammed Trump for his “deeply childish” public reaction.

Jimmy Kimmel References Donald Trump's Comments About Robert Mueller's Death

The late-night comedian addressed Trump's comments, which he made on Truth Social the day after Mueller's death was announced, during his opening monologue on the Monday, March 23rd episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Jimmy said in his monologue: "On Friday night, former FBI director Robert Mueller passes away and, on Saturday, Trump posts, 'Robert Mueller just died. Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!' Meaning him, I guess."

He went on: "All of a sudden, he's had the truth bottled up for so long it bursts out of him… so much time has elapsed since the last time he said something true, he erupts. He just comes out with a death wish. Which is an important reminder, because no matter how busy he is, President Trump will always carve out time to be a petty little [expletive.]"

Jimmy Kimmel Compares Mueller's Achievements To Trump's As 'The View' Co-Hosts Also Weigh In

Kimmel then highlighted Mueller's long list of achievements, before drawing a sharp comparison with Trump. "Robert Mueller, in addition to serving as FBI director under Obama and Bush, was a decorated veteran, a Marine who served in Vietnam," Kimmel noted.

"He earned a Purple Heart for rescuing a fellow Marine under fire. He was awarded a bronze star," he continued, before adding: "Trump dodged Vietnam and wore bronzing cream. That's about all they have in common."

Kimmel wasn't the only public figure to weigh in on Trump's reaction to Mueller's passing. The co-hosts of The View also criticized Trump's remarks, with Sunny Hostin calling them "especially inappropriate coming from the President of the United States." Ana Navarro added that Trump is "a mean person with a dark heart, verbal diarrhea, and no impulse control," before warning: "Karma never forgets."

Jimmy Kimmel Pushes Back On US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's Defense

During the segment, Kimmel played a clip of U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defending Trump's comments on Meet the Press. Bessent argued that Trump had been the subject of an "illegal raid" on his Mar-a-Lago home, and said that "neither one of us can understand what has been done to the president and to his family."

Kimmel quickly pushed back, and pointed out the inaccuracies in that defense. "By the way, it wasn't even Robert Mueller who ordered that illegal raid on Mar-a-Lago; it was Merrick Garland. It's a different person," Kimmel noted.

"The Mar-a-Lago search happened in 2022. The Mueller Report came out in 2019. It had nothing to do with that. It was about Russian election interference," he continued. "Trump's committed so many crimes now, they can't even keep who they hate straight anymore. Didn't Trump and his buttkiss brigade claim repeatedly that Robert Mueller's report exonerated him?"

To prove his point, Kimmel played several clips of Trump and allies previously claiming the report cleared him, and then added: "The thing that makes it so deeply childish is Trump didn't have to say anything. He could've just said nothing, same way he's been doing with the Trump-Epstein files all along. He could've kept his mouth shut."

Internet Reactions

"Thanks Jimmy I needed this laugh," wrote one fan on YouTube. "Thank you Jimmy for these gems!" exclaimed a second. "You are a true hero... always speaking without any fear!! Keep it going J," complimented a third, as a fourth added: "Jimmy's a gift." "Thank you for making us laugh when we need it most," wrote a fifth.

"Robert Mueller is 100 times the man Trump will ever be. Trump knows it and the world knows it," thought a sixth. "Robert Mueller was a marine in Vietnam serving his country while DJT was tending to his bone spurs not serving," noted a seventh.

"Guy dies and the President of the country says Good. How crass and classless," slammed am eighth. "What a despicable creature," concurred a ninth, as a tenth echoed: "Just when you thought DJT couldn't get more despicable and stoop any lower. Vile, pathetic excuse of a man."
