Alec Baldwin has come under fire on social media after describing life under Donald Trump’s administration as a “nightmare” and suggesting that America has become “insane.”
The 30 Rock actor, 68, made the comments on Monday, November 2nd, just one day before the midterm elections, which saw Democrats make major gains at the expense of Republicans.
However, not everyone was sympathetic to Baldwin’s remarks. Critics on social media accused the actor of being “tone-deaf,” “entitled,” and out of touch with ordinary Americans, while others suggested he was suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” or “TDS.” Keep reading for more info…

Alec Baldwin Calls Life Under Donald Trump's Administration 'A Nightmare'
In a video shared on Instagram on Monday, November 2nd, Baldwin said: "We've been living in this nightmare, for me and my political consciousness - it's been a nightmare. The beginning of the end of that nightmare is tomorrow."
The actor went on to express his frustration with the state of the country, declaring: "The world we're in now, the America we're in now is insane. It's insane."
He also suggested that the midterm elections could mark a turning point for America, giving voters an opportunity to change the country's political direction.

Social Media Users Slam Alec Baldwin As 'Entitled' And Accuse Him Of Having 'TDS'
The Blue Jasmine actor's comments sparked quite the reaction on X, formerly Twitter, with many critics showing little sympathy for the mega-rich actor. And judging by some of the responses, his remarks about his "political consciousness" certainly didn't go down well!
"Let's all have a moment of silence for Alec Baldwin's Political Consciousness," wrote one unimpressed X user. "Aww you poor thing," quipped a second, alongside a GIF of a tiny violin. "Ahhh, so hard for you. Who gives a [expletive] what you think or feel?" added a third. "This is why Alec gets paid to act, not to think," remarked a fourth.
Others took aim at Baldwin's wealth and privileged lifestyle, suggesting that he was out of touch with the struggles faced by ordinary Americans.
"Alec Baldwin crying about a 'nightmare' from his multi-million dollar mansion while average Americans were struggling with groceries and energy bills is peak Hollywood entitlement. Your political consciousness isn't suffering, Alec. Your fragile ego is," slammed a fifth, as a sixth simply called his comments "tone-deaf."
"If he really had to live under the Biden years he'd have voted him out too, except the celebrity elite live behind their ivory towers sheltered away from the reality everyone else suffered through," argued a seventh.

"Alec Baldwin receives money for making these statements against Trump. He doesn't do anything for free," claimed an eighth. While there's no evidence Baldwin was paid for his latest remarks about Trump, he has received money for political appearances in the past. According to CalMatters, the actor was paid more than $227,000 to attend a technology summit and a political fundraiser for former California Assemblymember Evan Low in February 2020.
"Yeah I'm sure Trump is the source of all his troubles," joked a ninth, as a tenth asked: "Didn't he promise to leave America if Trump were elected?" "What will he say when they come to take his wealth? These people who have lived a privileged life hate this country that allowed them to achieve their status," added an eleventh. "The true face of delusion and necessary mental institutionalism," wrote a twelfth.
Other users accused the actor of suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome," a term commonly used by Trump supporters to criticize those they believe have an excessive opposition to the president...
"He is a case study of what liberalism and TDS do to you," claimed a thirteenth. "He should probably pay more attention to how he looks. Of course, having TDS does terrible things to ppl," harshly remarked a fourteenth, as a fifteenth echoed: "TDS has done a number on Alec."

Alec Baldwin Discusses Running For Office Following Midterm Elections
Interestingly, Baldwin also discussed the possibility of entering politics himself during the November 4th episode of Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, which he appeared on alongside his wife, Hilaria Baldwin.
During the episode, Ripa openly encouraged Baldwin to consider running for office and even offered to manage his campaign. "I still want you to run for office, Alec, and I'm willing to run your campaign," she told him.
The actor immediately rejected the suggestion, responding: "Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no." He then explained why he believed Trump's presidency had changed the public's appetite for celebrities entering politics.
"I mean, I thought about, I thought about that. First of all, I think truly, without getting into a whole quagmire here, I think truly that Trump has killed probably forever the notion of an entertainment figure popping into show business," he said.
"Trump, who comes from this TV show and sells to everybody the idea that he's this crack businessman, I think it's gonna be a long time before you see others," he continued, adding: "People are gonna want governors and senators and people who have had experience in government, and they're not gonna wanna…they wanna play it safe."
However, Hilaria wasn't entirely convinced by her husband's argument. "I don't agree with you either. I think you're wrong," she told him. Baldwin then jokingly changed his mind, announcing: "I'm running. I'm running. Let's declare it now on the podcast."
