Jennifer Lawrence Jokes Her Husband Is Gay

During the interview, host Alex Cooper asked Lawrence about a red flag she had overlooked in a past relationship. Lawrence admitted that she didn’t exactly take the hint at the time, joking that her response was, “No, you’re not. You’re gay right now. Just give me a chance.” Cooper was clearly amused by the story and assumed the two never ended up together.

When Cooper asked whether they had eventually gotten together, Lawrence replied, “No, we did. That’s my husband,” before adding, “I’m just kidding.” The exchange was part of the October 28 episode of Call Her Daddy, titled “Jennifer Lawrence: Hunger Games, Hot Takes & Online Hate.” The actress, has been married to art gallery director Cooke Maroney since 2019, and they share two children together.

Social Media Reactions

For many, Lawrence's joke about her husband's sexuality didn't sit right, and social media users were quick to share their opinion on the matter. "I love her but this was a bad joke," one user wrote on Reddit.

"She's so nutty," wrote another. "What is it going to be next?"

"Was this a story to distract us from her facial reconstruction?" asked a third user.

"I don't dislike Jennifer Lawrence, or anything and just my two cents, I think joking about your 'husband' being gay publicly isn't the wisest decision," another user posted. "This is how bullying and gossip start in personal circles."

"So much more to joke about than especially about your family," agreed another. "Thankfully he is not famous so this won't turn into another SNL skit."

"She should probably just stop," a final user wrote.
