Jeff Bezos is facing backlash after predicting that artificial intelligence could eventually make three-day workweeks and single-income households more common in America.
The Amazon founder believes AI could dramatically increase productivity and give people more freedom to work less, but his optimistic vision of the future has left some social media users questioning whether the billionaire understands the financial realities facing everyday Americans. His comments have sparked debate over whether AI will make life easier for workers or leave them struggling to keep up. Read more about what he had to say and how the internet reacted below.

Jeff Bezos Predicts AI Could Lead To Three-Day Workweeks & Single-Income Households In New Interview
In an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier that aired on Wednesday, October 7th, the billionaire discussed the future of artificial intelligence, its potential impact, and how advancements in it could change the way Americans live and work.
Jeff predicted that AI could boost productivity enough to allow some people to support their families while working just three days a week. He also suggested that households might eventually need only one income, as increased productivity could give people more financial flexibility and allow some to leave the workforce.
"Some people will also decide, you know what? I can support my family working three days a week. That's what productivity in the economy means," he said. "You're not going to need to have a two-earner household. If you want it, fine. If you don't want to have it, one of the people might drop out... It's going to be difficult to hire people, because the productivity in the economy will make it so that [if] people don't want to work two jobs, they won't have to."

Social Media Users Call Jeff Bezos' Comments 'Out Of Touch'
Despite the tech icon's somewhat optimistic outlook, some social media users weren't convinced that AI would deliver the comfortable future he described.
Some social media users felt his vision was disconnected from the financial challenges ordinary Americans face today, and others felt that it was too typical of someone of his status to boast about the power and 'importance' of AI, when it's data centers and more that are disrupting many people's everyday lives.
"You have an abundance of wealth right now, Bezos," commented a Reddit user. "What are you doing with it? Hoarding. That's what you'll do with any future abundance of wealth, too."
"This guy and his tech bro buddies are so out of touch," responded another. "It's maddening."
"The only way that would happen would be if billionaires paid taxes (and ceased to exist) and employees got paid DRAMATICALLY more," a user speculated. "And by that I mean, it would never happen in the US."
"Should ask him whether he will pay his staff the same for a 3-day workweek and whether he will pay off his workforce because of AI," one noted.
"Seems like a big logic disconnect in there somewhere," added a user.
