Johnny Depp’s latest appearance in China has sparked plenty of reactions online, with some fans saying they barely recognized the actor and comparing his new look to several other celebrities.
The Day Drinker star was recently spotted touring the city during his trip to China, where he presented his first solo museum exhibition in the country, “A Bunch of Stuff Presents Figures of the Fringe,” at the Shanghai Museum of Modern Art.
Photos from his outing showed Depp sporting noticeably longer brunette hair that fell past his shoulders. He completed the look with a hat, tinted sunglasses and a black jacket, giving him a noticeably different appearance from some of his recent public outings.

His new look quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, with some users jokingly comparing him to other well-known figures.
“Bruh looks like Caitlyn Jenner,” one person wrote.
“He is morphing into Cory Feldman,” another commented.
“Why Johnny look like Ozzy Osbourne,” a third person said.
Others were similarly surprised by the change, with one calling him “Temu Depp. Unrecognizable.”
“That’s not him !!” another user wrote, while someone else asked, “Please tell me this is NOT Johnny Depp!!”
“He just needs a haircut and a stylist lol,” another person commented. “I did not recognize him,” someone else added.
Johnny Depp Attends His Shanghai Art Exhibition
Despite the buzz surrounding his dramatically different appearance, Johnny is using his time in China to showcase another side of his creativity.
His Shanghai exhibition, which opened on August 15 and will go on through December 13, 2026, at the Modern Art Museum (MAM) Shanghai, features more than 100 works spanning four decades. The exhibition includes Depp’s drawings, paintings, and personal items, offering visitors a look at his artistic work beyond his career as an actor.
During the event, Depp also encouraged people not to let other people’s opinions prevent them from pursuing their interests and creative passions.
“Never limit yourself. Don’t listen to people who say, ‘No, you shouldn’t do that, you are on the wrong track, or no, you are in the wrong business.’ Never limit yourself. That’s essentially what I’ve learned," he said.
