Selena Gomez is already embracing fall fashion—even as summer temperatures continue to soar in Los Angeles.
The singer and actress was recently spotted on Tuesday leaving dinner in Los Angeles in a head-to-toe black leather outfit that gave off serious The Matrix vibes. Styled by Erin Walsh, Gomez wore a Khaite ensemble featuring the brand’s Roto Jacket paired with the Loxley Skirt.
The cropped leather jacket featured black buttons and oversized, loose-fitting sleeves, while the midi-length skirt included a subtle side slit. Gomez completed the edgy look with rose-tinted slim sunglasses, gold hoop earrings and pointed black pumps from Aquazzura. See the look here!

Selena Gomez Wears Head-to-Toe Leather During LA Heat
For her beauty look, the Rare Beauty founder opted for shimmery rose-gold eyeshadow and burgundy lip gloss, while her hair was slicked back into a sleek bun.
Although plenty of people appreciated Gomez’s fashion-forward look, some questioned the decision to wear so much leather while Los Angeles was still dealing with summer heat.
“Cool outfit that has no place in LA last night lol!” one Reddit user wrote.
Another commented, “I get it but it is still summer. Full summer in some places so its very weird to see.”
“She must have been SWEATING under that. It was so hot and at night it’s literally 75 degrees in the Weho area,” another person said, adding that Gomez was “definitely wearing that outfit for her pap walk only.”
Someone else pointed out just how warm the weather was, writing, “It's literally going to be 37C/99F today, and it was hot all night!” Still, not everyone thought the outfit was impractical. Some users defended Gomez by noting that celebrities typically spend very little time outdoors when attending dinners and events.
“On all the heat comments: She spends maybe 30 seconds in LA warm weather. Airconditioned car (which drops her off right where she wants to be) --> air conditioned venues/places,” one person explained.
Another agreed, writing, “most of these celebrities only walk from the restaurant or events to their car and vice versa. so they’re not really doing a whole lot of walking like a regular folk would.”

Selena Gomez Wears Fall Transitional Outfits
The 34-year-old appears to be leaning into autumn dressing well before the season officially arrives.
On August 30, she and her husband, Benny Blanco, were spotted in Venice after traveling aboard the Orient Express, where Gomez once again opted for a more fall-inspired outfit despite the Italian heat.
For that outing, she wore a chocolate-brown sleeveless turtleneck with a matching suede maxi skirt and brown leather boots. Blanco, meanwhile, took a more seasonally appropriate approach in a blue suit and loafers.
Selena isn't the only celebrity to spark similar reactions for dressing ahead of the weather. Rihanna previously faced comments after wearing a velvet tracksuit in the middle of August, while Nicole Kidman drew attention for wearing a power suit to Wimbledon in July.
For Selena, however, the latest leather ensemble appears to be another sign that she's ready to move on from summer fashion—even if the temperatures haven't quite caught up yet.
