Taylor Swift is back in the headlines, but this time it’s not because of her music or her relationship with Travis Kelce—it’s her bangs.

The “Love Story” hitmaker appeared to debut a fresh haircut while attending the wedding of her friends Laura Sisk and Oli Jacobs in the U.K. on Aug. 15.

The singer showed off a shorter, medium-length cut that fell just below her shoulders, along with thick, side-swept bangs. However, the hairstyle quickly divided fans online, with some calling the look outdated.

Photos obtained by DeuxMoi showed Swift smiling and laughing as she mingled with fellow wedding guests. She wore a navy-blue sleeveless dress with a low-cut neckline and floral detailing throughout. She accessorized with a pearl necklace and her signature red lip. See the bangs here!

Taylor Swift Debuts New Thick Bangs

The new hairstyle appeared to be a departure from the look Swift had been sporting leading up to the wedding. Shortly before the ceremony, she was seen with shorter bangs cut straight across her forehead rather than the harsher, side-swept style she debuted at the wedding.

Fans had plenty to say about the change.

“Those bangs are horrendous,” one person wrote on Instagram.

Another said, “It just gets worse.”

“I feel like most brides do this after the wedding. Like, ‘I’ve been growing my hair and not touching it for months just for the wedding and now I’m itching to cut it off,’” another commenter speculated.

Another wrote, “If you would've told me these photos are from 2014, I would believe you.”

“I’m sorry, this is so basic and bad,” another person commented.

“Billion dollars and you get those bangs,” another critic joked.

Another added, “This hairstyle looks like a front mullet.”

Taylor Swift’s Longtime Love Of Bangs

Swift’s love affair with bangs goes back more than a decade.

The 36-year-old first got bangs spontaneously during a Vogue photo shoot in late 2011.

When the styling team suggested trying a faux fringe with extensions, Swift reportedly decided to take the plunge and cut her real hair instead.

She ended up loving the fresh look, and bangs eventually became one of her most recognizable beauty signatures, evolving alongside her different musical eras.

Although Taylor has experimented with various shades of blonde and different cuts throughout her career, she has continued returning to bangs after discovering how flattering the style was for her.

At the 2016 Met Gala, for example, the pop icon debuted platinum-blonde hair styled into a layered bob while keeping her signature bangs, although they were much softer and less dramatic than her current fringe.

Now, some fans believe Swift’s latest haircut could be a classic post-wedding transformation.

The so-called “post-wedding chop” is a popular bridal beauty trend in which someone cuts off several inches of hair after months of growing it out for the ceremony. The result can be anything from a shoulder-length bob to a lob or clavicut, sometimes even happening during the reception. For Swift, the shorter cut and heavier bangs could simply be another beauty evolution—or a fresh start following her big day.
