Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Donald Trump For His 'Embarrassing' China State Visit
On Monday night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the comedian, 58, spoke about the 79-year-old president's three-day state visit to China. Trump met with President Xi Jinping and was expected to discuss crucial matters such as the war in Iran, tariffs, tech, and Taiwan, although no major deals appeared to come from the trip. The only agreement reportedly reached was a vague deal for China to buy Boeing planes.
"The president made a trip to China to see all the factories where his 'America First' merchandise is made. You got to check on the hats," Kimmel joked during his opening monologue.
He then played a viral clip of children appearing extremely excited to meet the president, before adding: "They met some very excited children. Like very. How they got them so excited for Trump, I don't know. I think they told them he was SpongeBob."
Kimmel went on to say that Trump is "so embarrassing on these trips," adding: "He eats this stuff up. The pageantry whenever he visits a foreign land, it's like a 5-year-old at their birthday party."

Jimmy Kimmel Thinks President Xi 'Played' Donald Trump
Kimmel's comments also echoed online reactions to the now-viral moment when Xi gave Trump a private tour of Zhongnanhai – the highly restricted leadership compound in Beijing that very few foreign leaders are invited to visit.
During the tour, Xi reportedly emphasized how rare the invitation was, which many people interpreted as a calculated attempt to flatter Trump through exclusivity and ceremonial treatment, with some critics – and Kimmel himself – claiming the Chinese president had "played" him.

"Give that man a parade. He'll give you anything you want. And President Xi played him like a Fat-ivarius," Kimmel quipped, before essentially deeming the trip a failure because "there were no major deals or agreements made on this trip to China."
Kimmel also mocked Trump for appearing to go back on his promise to stop Chinese nationals from buying farmland in America.
After playing a clip of Trump claiming that President Xi called America "the hottest country anywhere in the world," Kimmel joked: "Wow. He said that? Huh. He said we were the hottest. That's so cool. You should give him all our farmland for that."
