People are beginning to reminisce on Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour that made headlines last year, and Jay-Z is defending and praising his teenage daughter’s special performances.
The famous rapper has been defending his teenage daughter after people have been slamming her with ‘nepo baby’ backlash, especially since she appeared on stage alongside her mom during last year’s mega tour. In a new interview, he opened up about how his daughter ‘worked’ for her place on that tour, and mentioned how proud he was of her. Read more about what he had to say below.

Jay-Z Defends Blue Ivy Carter's 'Cowboy Carter' Tour Performances
Around this time last year, fans were gearing up for Beyoncé's highly anticipated Cowboy Carter tour, which celebrated her Grammy-winning country-inspired album.
Like any of the famous singers' tours, thousands of fans fought for tickets and pulled up to arenas for elaborate performances full of costumes, choreography, and set changes. However, they also received a special treat, which was spotlight appearances made by her and Jay-Z's eldest and 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. The young prodigy worked as one of her mom's backup dancers for many shows on the tour, taking on a few solo moments and going all-out with her choreography.
Though many fans of the Carter family loved seeing the teenager performing on stage, numerous internet users criticized the family, writing that Blue Ivy was growing up too fast, only got the featured parts because she's a 'nepo baby,' etc. However, in his new GQ interview, the "Empire State of Mind" rapper is setting the record straight.
"On the first tour, there was a lot of conversation around her first performance, and she worked really hard to get to that point, but she still wasn't going for it," he recalled. "She still was going through the motions. And then she just started fighting back."

Jay-Z Says Blue Ivy 'Fought For' Her Featured Performances On The 'Cowboy Carter' Tour
After admitting that his daughter didn't seem super motivated or inspired when she first began dancing on her mom's tour, the award-winning recording artist spoke about the shift in her work ethic and how much she loved being on stage.
"I saw her fight maybe for the first time in her life - like, not everything is just given to her and everything is easy," he revealed. "She fought for it."
Not only did the young teenager prove to her parents how badly she wanted to dance on the iconic tour, but she also began insisting on being in as many numbers as possible.
"She's almost on every number," Jay added. "I had to take her off some, like, 'Man, you can't be on that stage when [Beyoncé's] singing Six-inch heels…; are you crazy?' I don't think we're going to be able to get her off that stage now."
When it comes to Blue Ivy's future in the arts, it looks like, in addition to dancing alongside her mom on tour, she's also a very talented, hard-working musician and "crazy pianist," which is making her dad very proud.
"But she has perfect pitch," he explained. "If she hears a song, she'll be like, 'Play it again,' and then she'll teach herself. That's just talent; she doesn't work at that. She worked at this, and it makes me proud that she fought for something that she really wanted to do."
