Now would be a good time to check your refrigerator. Kayem Foods Inc. has recalled more than 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products nationwide.  They announced the voluntary recall on October 16, 2026, after discovering a cooling system malfunction at one of its warehouses that may have caused products to be stored at unsafe temperatures, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recall affects approximately 1,584,361 pounds of products, including hot dogs, bacon, sausage, ham and other fully cooked meats sold under several brand names. The products were distributed to retail and food service locations nationwide, as well as Hong Kong. Although no confirmed illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products, consumers are being urged not to eat them because of the potential health risk.

Kayem Foods Inc. Recalls 1.5 Million Pounds of Meat

The recalled products were produced between approximately March 31 and October 7, 2026. Recalled products were sold under brands like Kayem, Al Fresco, Genoa Specialty Products, Triple M, McKenzie Country Classics, Deutschmacher, Jordan’s Ball Game Treats, Essem and Winnisimmet St. Butchery.

Products covered by the recall include hot dogs, kielbasa, bacon, deli ham, turkey, bologna, chicken sausage and other ready-to-eat meat and poultry items.

To find out if you're in possession of recalled meat, check the packaging. Impacted products have establishment numbers EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A or EST. M 9520 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Consumers can find the complete list of recalled products, including product descriptions and UPC codes, in the official USDA recall announcement. It's important to check the product name and label details, as the recall covers numerous items across multiple brands.

Why Were The Meat Products Recalled?

According to the FSIS, these meats were recalled because Kayem Foods received a complaint from a retail customer on October 1 that claimed the products arrived at an unsafe temperature. After investigation, a problem was discovered with a warehouse cooler that stored various ready-to-eat meat and poultry products.

When meat is stored at improper temperatures, harmful bacteria can grow, leading to safety issues. Because of this risk, the company initiated the voluntary recall and said it was working with the USDA to address the issue. No confirmed illnesses associated with the recalled products had been reported as of the agency’s announcement.

What to Do If You Purchased the Recalled Meat

The FSIS advises consumers who purchased any of the affected products not to eat them. Recalled items should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers should also check the full recall list before deciding whether a product in their refrigerator is safe.

Anyone concerned about a possible illness after consuming a recalled product should contact a healthcare provider. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Kayem Foods customer service at 800-426-6100, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time, or email info@kayem.com.

Stay safe and stay on top of recalls!
