Former President Joe Biden will publish a book this fall, a memoir titled, Promise Me, America. With a release date of November 17, 2026, the book will touch on everything from the economy to his decision to run for reelection and why he soon after stepped aside. However, many critics online were quick to question how much of the book Biden actually wrote, despite most presidential memoirs having an editorial team assist in the writing of the book. Joe Biden Announces New Memoir

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Biden announced in a video statement the release date of his new memoir and what fans can expect from the book. "Promise Me, America is about the challenges we faced as a nation. It's about the decisions I made and why I made them," he said. "It's about why I chose to run for reelection and why I chose to step aside."

"Most of all," he added, "it's about my faith in the promise of America and the American people."

According to Little, Brown, the publisher, Biden was helped by a "small editorial team," which is quite common for presidential memoirs. A spokesperson for the publisher also noted that Biden plans to our on behalf of he book and give interviews.

At the end of his video statement, Biden also provided a quick update on his health: "I've been spending a lot of time with my family. I'm dealing with a cancer diagnosis, been getting treatment, and it's going really well," he said. "I want to thank all those who have offered their prayers and support and well-wishes. It's meant the world to me and to Jill."

Social Media Reactions

Social media users were quick to react to Biden's memoir announcement, and they didn't hold back their snark. "Bro, you can't even write your own name," one user wrote on X.

"No one believes you wrote a book," another person posted.

"Did he write it with autopen?" asked a third user.

"Lol! You didn't write anything," said another. "You can't even string a sentence together."

Others, however were more supportive. "Can't wait to read it," one kind user posted. "It'll be a reminder of what it looks like to have a president with honor, integrity, and a genuine commitment to serving the American people instead of treating the presidency like a vehicle for personal gain. Stay well, 46."

"I preordered and looking forward to reading it," a final user wrote. "Congrats on the book, Joe!"
