What are your July 4th plans?
Mine involve chasing around a toddler, trying to keep everyone sunscreened, and hopefully sneaking in some time to actually enjoy the day. Somewhere in between are barbecues with family friends and spending time hanging by the pool.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably started thinking about what to wear over the long weekend—but maybe you don’t want to show up looking like you got dressed exclusively from a red, white, and blue section of the store. There’s a fine line between looking festive and dressing like a full-on flag-inspired outfit!
Ahead, we rounded up the July 4th fashion finds we’re loving right now. From striped denim and breezy white dresses to red smocked tank tops, these are the easy summer staples you’ll want to wear on the 4th … and long after the fireworks are over.
CITY BLUES Five-Pocket Cuffed Straight Leg Jeans ($23.80)
Red, white, and blue? Cute. But a pair of striped jeans that nods to July 4th and works beyond the holiday is even better.
These cuffed straight-leg jeans bring a little something extra to your summer wardrobe with their eye-catching stripes and easy everyday fit. They’re comfy enough for a full day of celebrations and polished enough to make your basic tank-and-sandals combo look like an outfit you put a lot of thought into.
Vince Camuto Printed Square Neck Maxi Sundress ($34.50 – $41.40)
The easiest way to dress for July 4th is to find a dress that does the work for you. Bonus points if it’s breezy enough to handle a full day outside and features a bright, summery pattern!
This printed Vince Camuto maxi brings a great blend of comfort and style with its lightweight fabric, flattering square neckline, and flowy silhouette. Plus, it comes in so many pretty colorways (and is currently up to 50% off).
Madewell Smocked Tank Top ($43.50 – $58)
A red tank top is an easy way to add a little patriotic spirit without going overboard. And when the top is this cute, I’ll happily keep wearing it all summer long!
Like a lot of Madewell’s tees, it looks more elevated than your average tank. The cotton-linen blend is comfy, the smocked design hugs your shape, and the ruffled hem is a nice feminine touch. Pair it with denim, shorts, or a breezy skirt, and you’re ready for whatever adventures the day brings.
Halogen® Windowpane Check Faux Wrap Dress ($48.99)
A white sundress (or in this case, ivory) feels festive, but still has major summer wardrobe potential.
Here, the windowpane check design adds a chic twist to the classic summer silhouette. But what I love most is the faux-wrap design that’s both flattering and relaxed enough to wear all day long. It’ll look great with sandals for a backyard barbecue, and you can always dress it up for dinner after the fireworks.
Treasure & Bond Ruffle Peplum Top ($44.75 – $89.50)
If your July 4th style goal is “cute but comfortable,” this top checks that box. Even better, it’s 50% off right now, so I wouldn’t wait too long to grab it.
The flouncy sleeves and peplum hem create the prettiest shape (without feeling fussy), and it’s lightweight enough to keep you cool in the heat. Plus, the ruffled details also add just enough personality to make it feel special. You can wear it with some fun jewelry, a white skirt, or linen shorts for a festive summer look that doesn’t scream July 4th.
Halogen® Halter Neck Linen Blend Maxi Dress ($53.55)
White dresses always have a moment around July 4th, but the best ones don’t feel tied to just one holiday. This Halogen halter-neck maxi gets it right with an oversized black floral print that gives the classic silhouette a fresh twist.
Personally, I’ve always been a fan of a halter neckline—it always feels so summery. Add in the breezy linen blend and backless silhouette, and you’ve got a dress that’s a little less stars and stripes, and a little more effortlessly chic.
The best July 4th outfits look great on the actual holiday, but don’t stop making sense on July 5th. Invest in versatile summer staples like these, and you’ll get plenty of wear out of them all season long.
