Zendaya has certainly earned herself a reputation as one of today’s ‘it girls,’ being featured on the cover of several magazines. However, one of her latest shoots has some people puzzled.
The Euphoria star recently participated in an edgy, elaborate photoshoot for her latest Elle magazine cover, wearing an outfit that some of her fans found somewhat “bizarre.” Though she’s been making waves with her style over the last few years, especially with her famous stylist, Law Roach, who worked on the photoshoot, these looks didn’t go over quite well with fans. Read more about the new snaps and how fans reacted below.

Zendaya Poses In Drapey Dresses For 'Elle' Magazine Shoot
Right now, the Disney Channel alum is seemingly on top of the world, as she's starring in the current and buzzing third season of Euphoria, is likely fresh off the heels of a wedding, and is still stepping out onto various red carpets.
Therefore, it's not much of a surprise that she's one of the cover stars of Elle's Summer 2026 The Epic Issue: Women of The Odyssey. For the shoot, she posed in several outfits that had a sort of ancient theme, with dark colored outfits and ethereal, nature-coded set pieces. In one of her looks, she had on a plunging, long, dark dress that almost looked like a floor-length sweater dress that had been tattered.
The drapey dark brown dress and its sultry, low neckline were paired with some chic, tall brown riding boots, which accentuated her toned and slender legs. Her famous micro bob was tousled and voluminous, and the look was tied together with some smoky eye makeup.

Social Media Users Slam Zendaya's Look
Though the photoshoot was elaborate and dramatic, the outfits surprisingly did not go over quite well with some social media users.
The 29-year-old was dressed by her friend and longtime stylist, Law Roach, who is known for setting up iconic ensembles for her and other stars. The pair is oftentimes praised on social media for their collaborations, but for this covershoot, some fans and fashion enthusiasts were left disappointed.
"It feels like the creative director took 'Earth' way too literally," commented a user on Reddit.
One user called out "the streaks of 'dirt'" on the dress, "where you can still see the brush marks," and another responded that it "looks absolutely terrible."
"I think the dress is just draping weirdly," added a fan.
A user commented that the photo seemingly had a "really bizarre Photoshop error," as another wrote, "This shoot is just boring," indicating that it's not really going over that well for various reasons.
