Whoopi Goldberg is one of many celebrities who has admitted to using a GLP-1 medication to lose some weight, but now, some social media users are pointing out some of the downsides of rapid weight loss.

The television show host was recently accused of having “Ozempic neck,” an online term created to describe the loose skin left around one’s neck following a quick weight loss after taking a GLP-1. Like Oprah and other stars who have significantly slimmed down, fans began noticing the difference in her neck after analyzing various before-and-after weight loss shots of her shared by other media outlets. Read more about her transformation and how internet users reacted below.

Whoopi Goldberg Admits To Using Mounjaro For Weight Loss

The View host has had a long, iconic, and successful career that has spanned over four decades. Through it all, she's gone through some changes and transformations, being open about how her weight has fluctuated and how she's dealt with media scrutiny about her body as well.

In 2024, she admitted that an interaction she had with a fan in 2022, who assumed she was wearing a fat suit in a film when she wasn't, kick-started her motivation to lose some excess pounds after noticing that at her heaviest, she weighed around 300 pounds. While speaking to Kelly Clarkson on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Whoopi eventually admitted that she had finally started slimming down thanks to a GLP-1 medication, Mounjaro.

"I'm doing that wonderful shot that works for folks who need some help, and it's been really good for me," she said as reported by Today. "It's all the weight I've lost. I've lost almost two people."

Social Media Users React To Whoopi's Weight Loss & Say She Has 'Ozempic Neck'

The Color Purple actress certainly isn't the first celebrity to dabble in weight loss medications to get healthier. From Oprah to Meghan Trainor, lots of stars are undergoing drastic transformations.

However, with fast weight loss, which tends to happen to a lot of people on GLP-1 medications, the pacing can lead to loose or sagging skin. Areas of loose skin have sort of become a hallmark of GLP-1 weight loss online, with users creating terms like "Ozempic face" and "Ozempic neck." Now, after looking at side-by-side photos of Whoopi before and after her recent transformation, media outlets like The List are pointing out her 'Ozempic neck,' even though she's taking Mounjaro.

"I see nothing wrong with it," commented an Instagram user under news of Whoopi's Mounjaro use. "I just think the change is so drastic and so fast that a lot of people end up looking a bit aged after."

"Good for her," wrote another.

On another Instagram post, a user commented that the transformation made Whoopi look "older," but a lot of the criticism was drowned out by a surprising wave of support.

"Whoopi looks really good, but there's always gonna be haters," added a user. "I'm happy for her."
