Taylor Swift is a little like Marmite, where some people are obsessed with her – the Swifties, if you will – and others, shall we say, don’t feel the same way.

She has been dividing the internet more than usual lately, with things like her sartorial choices and her presence at NFL games to support fiancé Travis Kelce. And now their wedding day is also causing a bit of a stir…

Did Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Shell Out A Significant Sum Of Money To Take Another Couple's Wedding Date?

According to early reports, the "Lavender Haze" hitmaker wanted a no-expense-spared wedding at a luxury five-star hotel in Rhode Island; and she was apparently willing to move mountains – and allegedly another bride – to make it happen.

Many outlets have claimed that Taylor and Travis have set their date for June 13th, 2026, which won't come as a shock to Swifties given that 13 is the "Anti-Hero" singer's lucky number. The couple reportedly wanted to tie the knot at the lavish Ocean House in Watch Hill, conveniently close to Swift's controversial Rhode Island mansion.

Nothing unusual there… except for the viral allegation that Swift supposedly paid off a bride who had already booked the venue on that date. Several outlets initially claimed the "Love Story" singer wrote a huge check to persuade the woman to move her wedding. More recent reports, however, insist that the story isn't true. So what do we believe?

Taylor Swift's Rumored Wedding Venue Denies The Allegations

Stephanie Leavitt, area director of sales and marketing for the Ocean House, reportedly told TMZ that their policy "would not and is not allowing another party or entity to buy a wedding group out of a contracted wedding date."

Is that the truth, or is that Swift's team doing damage control? Was the story planted by her PR team so her real venue isn't revealed for privacy reasons? We don't know for sure, and probably never will, but that didn't stop social media from dragging her when the first allegations came out…

Internet Reactions

"So egotistical of Tay. Had [to] have that date and paid a bride off," wrote one person on a Page Six Instagram post. "Thats so shocking," wrote a second, as a third exclaimed: "That poor bride!"

"Pretty entitled thing to do to even ask the bride to delay HER wedding because of her…who does she think she is?" asked a fourth, as a fifth joked: "She had that change at the bottom of her purse."

"Proof that money CAN buy happiness," quipped a sixth on another Instagram post. "Hard pass. Go find your own place Taylor. This is wildly rude and elitist!" exclaimed a seventh, as an eighth slammed: "She's the worst." "I hate everything about this," declared a ninth.

"Taylor would never buy anyone's wedding day," thought a tenth, as an eleventh replied: "Yes she would. She thinks she can do whatever bc she's Taylor Swift." "Not surprised if it happened," wrote a twelfth I user, as a thirteenth noted: "She probably did lol."
