For a new interview with PEOPLE, Selena sat down to discuss her life and career as she receives the outlet’s inaugural Beauty Impact Award for her mental health advocacy through Rare Beauty. She also opened up about her beauty philosophy, her relationship with the songwriter, and the more peaceful chapter of her life that she’s currently enjoying.
In part of her interview that was recorded and shared on social media, she also got candid about getting older and said she’s actually enjoying the process rather than fearing the changes that come with aging. She reflected on the way fans continue to compare her current appearance to her 2016 era, joking that some people seem to want to “freeze” her in that period of her life.
“Getting older has been so fun,” she said. “I’m not scared at all. I don’t get that feeling. I love getting older. Yeah, things are gonna change, and things are gonna sag, but like, you’re alive.”
