The summer’s not even here yet and there are already so many bizarre swimwear trends: V wiring, long-sleeves, clear straps, ribbed suits (Sofia Richie is a fan!), and ones with oh-so-many ties. And now comes another strange bathing suit design–that’s actually kind of chic, albeit a little bizarre: the SLASH or SHRED suit!
Yep–that’s right, thanks to Agent Provocateur, followed by Missguided, ASOS and Boohoo, bathing suits that look like they’ve gone through the shredder are officially in.
UK lingerie brand Agent Provocateur was the first to make a splash with the shredded suits. Their Dakota suit for spring/summer 2018 is one of their featured swim styles for the season, Daily Star points out:
But don’t think you’ll get a discount for the lack of material–the suit will set you back $385. Wow! According to the product description, customers can bare their “wild side” in this “hand-slashed” one piece. We didn’t even know hand slashing was a thing!
Dakotta Swimsuit Black ($385)
Don’t worry–you can get the look for less. Fast fashion shop Missguided carries a version of the trend for just $38. They call theirs “shred” not slash, and featured similar styles on their Instagram:

Even they are totally impractical, why do we feel like they belong on a yacht in Cannes? Right?? They’re kind of a fabulous way to show some skin, while still totally keeping it classy in a black one piece.
