Shiloh Jolie may have one of the most recognizable last names—despite dropping “Pitt”—but instead of facing typical nepo baby criticism, she’s earning praise online for her talent.

Last week, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie surprised fans by appearing as a background dancer in the music video for “What’s a Girl to Do,” the latest release from South Korean K-pop star Dayoung.

The 19-year-old showcased her impressive dance skills throughout the video, wearing multiple outfits.

Shiloh Jolie Showcases Her Dancing Skills In Kpop Music Video

In one scene, she sported a red crop top with a black-and-red skirt, paired with matching red socks and sneakers. In another, she wore a silver cutout top with denim shorts, while her final look featured a burgundy tank top with black pants and her hair styled in two braids.

According to reports, she landed the role after attending an open casting call in the United States, performing alongside members of the Los Angeles-based dance crew “Culture.” To ensure she was evaluated purely on her ability rather than her background, she auditioned under the stage name “Shi,” which is how she was credited at the end of the video.

In fact, even Starship Entertainment, the South Korean management behind the project, said they were unaware of her famous background.

“We held an open audition in the United States to cast performers for Dayoung’s music video. Among those who took part were several performers affiliated with a dance crew called ‘Culture,’” a representative told a South Korean outlet in an April 3 statement. “Shiloh was selected in the final round and ended up joining Dayoung’s music video.”

The spokesperson added, “Even after filming, we had no idea she was the child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and only found out by chance quite recently.”

Social Media Reacts

With so many nepo babies entering the industry, fans were surprisingly welcoming toward Shiloh, largely because of her polished dance skills, which clearly require dedication and hard work to develop.

“She’s really good, which is more than can be said about a fair amount of nepo babies. And if it’s true that Dayoung had no idea who Shiloh was during the entire MV filming, it stands to reason that she’s just trying to do her own thing without pushing her name around,” one fan said on Reddit.

“I’m happy that one nepo baby found a unique passion that requires skill. I think she’s the first nepo baby who went into dancing—versus everyone else going into social media influencing, modeling, or acting,” another wrote.

Another added, “This is why I think the nepo baby argument is a bit weak. Just because they have a foot in the door doesn’t mean instant or guaranteed success, at least in this line of work. A nepo baby at some corporate gig—that’s different to me, lol.”

Others pointed out the difficulty of the craft itself, with one user saying, “There are so many nepo babies and non-nepo babies who are terrible actors but keep getting cast (e.g., Kaia Gerber). It’s really hard to succeed in dancing if you genuinely are bad and can’t keep up with the other dancers.”

Another wrote, “Dancing is HARD. The fact that she’s able to keep up with the choreo at all shows she’s been training like crazy. Her face card (and perhaps her identity, despite them saying otherwise) might have helped get her the job, but this is the hardest I’ve seen a nepo baby work. She obviously actually cares a lot about dancing.”
