Serena Williams Flaunts Her 35-Lb Weight Loss During The 2026 Met Gala
Two days ago, all eyes were on the red carpet outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as the 2026 Met Gala seemingly went on without a hitch.
This year's theme, "Fashion Is Art" for the museum's annual fashion exhibit, "Costume Art," drew a lot of celebrities with both super elaborate, on-theme looks, and some controversial, 'boring' looks. Out of the big names designated as co-chairs for this year, a notable one was Venus Williams, whose famous sister ended up attending the gala as well.
Serena stepped out for this year's gala in a silver, metallic dress that cinched her slimmed-down waist, as she revealed she lost 35 pounds over the last two years. Designed by Marc Jacobs, the shiny dress had a skirt that was very short on one side, showing off her toned legs, and longer fabric on the other, creating a dual effect. The fabric was ruffled around her torso with a plunging neckline at the top. She paired the dress with some metallic, wrap-up gladiator heels and wore her hair in a chic, long, low ponytail.

After pictures and videos of the champion athlete were shared on social media platforms, fans had a lot to say not just about her look, but her weight loss transformation as well.
Her weight loss has been a buzzing topic over the last year. At first, Serena expressed that she was working to lose some excess weight she gained after giving birth to her second daughter, Adira River, in 2023. Then, as fans noticed she was looking a lot thinner than usual, she not only admitted to using Mounjaro, a GLP-1 medication for weight loss, but partnered with and starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Ro, a company that sells it.
She received a lot of backlash for not only using a GLP-1 and staying quiet about it at first, but also for her Ro partnership, as her husband, Alexis Ohanian, sits on the company's board and is a major investor. Still, as the criticism dies down, praise for her latest style and looks is beginning to dial up, especially after the gala.
