The post quickly raised eyebrows because it came amid ongoing reports that Teefey and the Only Murders in the Building actress have a complicated relationship, with recent claims suggesting Selena’s mom was left “shattered” after not being chosen to walk her daughter down the aisle at her wedding to Benny Blanco.
Teefey shared the carousel on Monday, July 13th. It featured a mirror selfie of the Rare Beauty founder posing with her younger half-sister Gracie, a glamorous selfie of Selena, and a Barbie doll lying inside a trash can with the caption, “Me when I have to run the business I manifested.” It also included an image that read, “Just to be clear, I’m that loyal friend who would take a bullet for you. But I’m probably also the reason we’re getting shot at. Balance matters,” and a pink neon sign that said, “She outgrew what drained her.”

Because of the family's rumored tensions, many fans assumed the message was directed at Selena and Gracie, and criticized Teefey for sharing it publicly instead of addressing any issues privately.
"If you're having issues with them, you shouldn't post this on social media. People will take it out of context and keep hating on Selena. I don't know what's going on, but go talk to your daughter instead of creating drama," one fan wrote, as a second commented: "Posting about this as the parent is quite a strange choice queen."
A third added: "You continuously put Selena in a bad situation PUBLICLY. Please have more care about what you post. You set your daughter up for further ridicule, you should want to protect her. It's beyond strange and this doesn't read like a joke to anyone."
Teefey later replied to one concerned follower, writing: "Girl. It's typical mom's not cool joke. Calm down. lol."

The singer and actress has long been reported to have a complicated relationship with her mother. Teefey raised Gomez as a single parent after separating from the "Lose You to Love Me" singer's father when she was five years old.
She later managed her career, before Gomez parted ways professionally with both her mother and stepfather, Brian Teefey, in 2014. Although the pair reunited to launch the mental health platform Wondermind in 2022, the company made headlines earlier this year after facing financial difficulties.
Their relationship has also been the subject of renewed speculation in recent months following reports that the "Love On" singer chose her maternal grandfather, David Cornett, rather than her mother, to walk her down the aisle when she married Blanco.
An insider told the Daily Mail: "Selena's mother and her stepfather Brian were shattered she didn't choose her mother to walk her down the aisle.
