Savannah Guthrie Visits The 'Today Show' Set For The First Time Since Her Mother Disappeared

One of the crime cases being followed intensely by the entire world right now is the disappearance and supposed abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the Today star's elderly mother.

At the end of January, the Tucson resident was reported missing from her home, and tragically, she still has not been found. The world has been waiting with bated breath for major updates, sitting through ransom note and security footage-related headlines. The Guthrie family, including Savannah and her two siblings, has made several social media videos pleading for their mother's safe return, and even mentioning they realize it's a possibility she may no longer be living.

Since then, some fans of the morning talk show have been wondering what all of this means in relation to the 54-year-old's future as a host, as her friend and former co-worker, Hoda Kotb, is filling in for her temporarily. On March 5th, she gave them peace of mind, as she made a quick trip to NYC to visit the show's set, hug her co-workers, and send out a brave message.

"I wanted you to know that I'm still standing, and I still have hope, and I'm still me," she said, as reported by Today. "And I don't know what version of me that will be, but it will be."

Fans React To Savannah's Statements As Her Spokespeople Confirm Her Return To 'Today'

Given that her mother has been gone for six weeks, there have been numerous fans and other internet users who figured the reporter would not be returning to work anytime soon, if ever. Although she's dedicated to the search for her mother and being with her family, amid her visit to NYC, a spokesperson for Savannah confirmed she'll go back eventually.

"While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home," a spokesperson told People.

In person, Savannah confirmed the news as well, telling her colleagues, "I have every intention of coming back."

"I don't know how to come back, but I don't know how not to," she continued. "You're my family. And I would like to try."

After fans saw photos of her embracing her fellow co-hosts and on-set family, they commented on how "brave" they thought the mom-of-two is.

"You are so brave and strong," wrote a user on Instagram. "We are praying for your sweet mom and your family."

"Beautiful!" added a fan. "Extremely touching! The world is with you!"

"Welcome home, Savannah," commented a Today viewer, as another added, "We continue to pray and are holding your hand all the way."
