Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have been under fire lately, especially with the latest It Ends With Us lawsuit updates. Now, it looks like they can’t even post about a holiday without getting some kind of backlash.
Not long after the actress and her former director, Justin Baldoni, reached a settlement in their dramatic and ongoing court battle, the Deadpool actor posted a tribute about her for Mother’s Day on his Instagram story. Though it seemed like a typical post for the holiday, Ryan’s use of the word “fearless” to describe his wife really struck a nerve for some people, causing a lot of criticism and backlash on various social media platforms. Read more about his post and how the internet reacted below.

Ryan Reynolds Calls Blake Lively 'Fearless' On Instagram For Mother's Day
It's no secret that the Gossip Girl icon's life and career changed drastically after she got into some intense legal drama with her former co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, with whom she worked on the film It Ends With Us. Over the last two years, the two battled back and forth, both behind the scenes and in person, starting with Blake suing Justin for allegedly creating a toxic work environment, to him accusing her of defamation, etc. As documents were released and statements were made, things only got worse.
Though the pair recently settled in court after the drawn-out battle, that doesn't mean they're still not dealing with the fallout, especially Blake and her famous husband, the Proposal star. The duo has been receiving lots of backlash, even for the way they conduct themselves as a couple. His latest social media post about her for Mother's Day stirred up some more drama, especially due to the way he described her.
"I appreciate this mother beyond measure," he wrote on his Instagram story along with pictures of the two of them. "She is kind. She is fearless. She's the absolute love of my life. To our four little kids, she's the life of their love."

Social Media Users Slam Ryan & Blake Following His Mother's Day Post
Given that the Canadian actor shared such a gushing tribute to the Blake Brown founder just about a week after the lawsuit settlement was reached, many social media users thought it was more of an attempt to clean up or redeem her reputation than it was to be festive about the holiday.
Therefore, after it went up on his Instagram story, people began slamming both him and his wife on various social media platforms.
"Fearless?" asked an X user. "Okay, Ryan. Ask your baby mama why she was so scared to take the stand and provide her 'mountain' of evidence. I think you misspelled the word liar."
"Looks like he's trying to convince himself that she's the 'absolute' love of his life," added another.
One user slammed Ryan as "clueless but also insufferable," and that Blake was "fearless in bullying people, making false accusations, stealing projects, and being a mean girl!"
"Man, these two truly have no shame and can't read a room," responded another.
