A-list actors and actresses are no strangers to transforming themselves for movie roles, including Lady Gaga for Joker 2, Chris Pratt for Guardians of the Galaxy, Mila Kunis for Black Swan, and so many more.

And Orlando Bloom has now joined their ranks, revealing the intense lengths he went to while preparing for his latest role in The Cut. The actor explained that he underwent an epic 30-lb weight loss transformation for the movie, which follows an Irish boxer pushing his body and mind to the limit in pursuit of a championship title. And perhaps even more impressively, he did it all in just three months!

Orlando Bloom Details His Strict Diet For 'The Cut'

The 48-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor's weight loss transformation may have been impressive, but it certainly wasn't easy! And he hasn't been afraid to tell people about it!

The father-of-two – who shares 14-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr and five-year-old daughter Daisy with ex-fiancée Katy Perry – opened up about the grueling process during an appearance on This Morning back in August, admitting that he was "horrible" to be around while he was preparing for it.

"I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at home, by the way. It was definitely not something to take lightly," he explained about his eating and training regime he had to follow.

Orlando Bloom Had To Make Sacrifices

The Lord of the Rings actor explained that he was working with a "great" nutritionist – the same one who helped Christian Bale achieve some of his most dramatic body transformations – to reach peak condition in record time. "He basically tiered me down from three meals a day to two to one," Bloom recalled.

As filming drew closer, his meals became even more restricted; and towards the end, he was apparently eating little more than tuna and cucumber for three straight weeks!

Unsurprisingly, the Deep Cover actor admitted this restricted diet made him extremely miserable, especially when he had to give up his favorite protein powder. "I love this protein [powder]. It's like, suddenly all these foods were being taken away from me, and my protein powder was the last one. I was like, 'No, don't take that one,'" he joked.

The Diet Affected Orlando Bloom Mentally And Physically

But there was nothing funny about the toll such deprivation took on his wellbeing. "I was just exhausted – mentally, physically – and I was just hangry. I was a horrible person to be around," Bloom candidly confessed.

He went on to share that the extreme diet also severely affected his mental state, leading to paranoia and intrusive thoughts. "It's really weird. We're supposed to eat and sleep and take care of ourselves," he added, reflecting on the experience.
