The “Flowers” singer, 33, and the Hunger Games actor, 36, didn’t appear to have a good marriage, which Miley previously described as a “disaster.” They may have been in an on/off relationship for ten years, but their marriage lasted less than a year, which is short even by Hollywood standards!
Miley and Liam tied the knot in December 2018 and announced their split in August 2019, with their divorce being finalized in January 2020. But time appears to have been a healer, as the “End of the World” singer apparently wants herself and her ex-husband to be on speaking terms again, despite him being engaged to 29-year-old model Gabriella Brooks.

Miley Cyrus Reportedly 'Regrets A Lot' Regarding Liam Hemsworth Marriage And Divorce
According to an insider, the Hannah Montana alum is in a much better place now – and happily engaged to fiancé Maxx Morando – but struggled emotionally over the years, and now finally wants closure with Liam.
"As much as Miley has tried to move on, she's really had a tough time," the insider told RadarOnline. "She's the type of person who hates leaving things unsaid, and she swears that's the reason she wants to see Liam. He was her first everything."
They went on: "She truly believed they were destined to be together forever, and she regrets a lot of the way things went down toward the end of their relationship."

They also went on to say that the "Secrets" singer finally wants to make amends and be friends with her ex, although neither Liam nor his fiancée feel the same way at the moment!
"Miley wants the air totally cleared. Liam hates confrontation, so he's avoided Miley since things imploded. He literally just ghosted her – which has only made it harder for her," the source said.
"Gabriella wants Liam's focus on her – not on building a better relationship with his ex," another insider added.

Despite once calling their marriage a "disaster" and admitting there was a lot of "conflict" in it, the "Dream As One" singer has also been very complimentary of her ex-husband over the years. She even told Vogue last year that she has still held on to some keepsakes from their time together as she isn't ready to let them go!
"I literally have a dress that I had on when I met my ex-husband, and then I have my dress that I wore on our first date," she told the fashion bible. "Along with letters and things that I really, I want to savor these kind of beautiful moments of my life, but because these intimate moments have also been public moments, it's a little bit tough to decide what piece I want to share and what I would ever allow to be seen," she added.
Even when the divorce was fresh and raw, the "More to Lose" singer still had nice things to say about her ex. Just a few months after their divorce was finalized, Miley said on The Howard Stern Show: "I really do and did love him very, very, very much, and still do, always will."
