In a recent interview on Fox News, Melania Trump sat down to promote her new self-titled documentary, which debuted last weekend, but ended up making a few puzzling comments about her 19-year-old son, Barron, saying she “needs to be there” for him “nonstop.” Many viewers were confused by the First Lady’s comments, as Barron attends college at NYU and is a full-grown adult. Melania Makes Rare Comments About Barron

Speaking on the “Mornings with Maria” segment, interviewer Maria Bartiromo was applauding Melania for being a working mother. “Tell us about that,” Maria prompted, “the challenge of being the First Lady of the greatest country in the world, everyone’s pulling at you, but you also have your priority of your family.”

“It’s very important. You need to be there for a child nonstop, especially when they need you, especially at that age that Barron is,” Melania responded. “He’s an incredible young man, we are very proud of him. Second year in Stern School of Business, and he loves it. And this time it’s very different, because he’s 19 years old and the first time he was 10 years old. He understands politics, he gives advice to his father, we talk about it, so, very different.”

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, users questioned why Melania thinks 19 is an age where she needs to "be there" for her son "non-stop."

"She's talking about him like he's 5," one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Is he that helpless that he needs constant supervision at 19?"

"My 19 year old son was away at college, living in a house, and I spoke to him maybe twice a week," another user wrote. "He was thriving and didn't his his mommy 'nonstop.'"

"Has there ever been a more infantilized family than the Trumps?" another person posted. "Absolutely bizarre."

"The last thing thing most 19 year olds want is their mother tied to their hip," another person added.
