Meghan Markle may be getting some negative attention at the moment due to Tom Bower‘s new book – which she and Prince Harry dismissed as a “deranged conspiracy” – as well as the Variety report released last week allegedly exposing secrets of their behind-the-scenes relationship with Netflix. But she seemed quite unbothered by it at her latest public appearance.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, didn’t appear to have a care in the world when she attended the Children’s Rights 34th Annual Champions For Children Gala in Los Angeles with close friend Kelly Zajfen.

Meghan Markle Looks Effortlessly Stylish On The Red Carpet

The former Suits actress cut a stylish figure in a strapless silk navy Ralph Lauren evening gown, which she teamed with effortlessly chic Stuart Weitzman heels.

Her dark locks were worn in an understated low bun with some tendrils left out to frame her face, which showed off her chic gold Chanel earrings perfectly. She accessorized further with some gold bracelets and her gold wedding band. But two very important rings were missing…

It didn't take royal fans long to notice that her engagement ring – which she has redesigned several times since receiving it in 2017 – was missing from her finger, as was her eternity ring. Does this mean that she is getting it redesigned yet again?

Fans first noticed a change to the engagement ring back in 2019, when the yellow gold band was seemingly replaced with a thinner micro-pavé band. In 2022, during the Invictus Games, Meghan debuted a sparklier ring, which appeared to have more diamonds added to it. And in 2025, fans noticed the center stone had seemingly been swapped for an emerald-cut diamond when she appeared in With Love, Meghan.

Internet Reactions

Meghan's look received mixed reactions on social media. Some fans praised her glowing and effortlessly stylish appearance, while many others criticized her for stepping out without her rings, especially as they felt it made her seem ungrateful to Prince Harry.

"She's probably having it amended AGAIN with an even bigger diamond," thought one Daily Mail reader. "No matter how many times she redesigns it, it's never going to be Diana's sapphire!" exclaimed a second, as a third said: "She always hated the ring!"

"She is never, ever, satisfied," concurred a fourth. "Just changing the ring to manifest a new husband?" asked a fifth, as a sixth referenced the late Princess Diana's ring, which now belongs to Kate Middleton, adding: "She's probably having the centre stone changed to a large sapphire, surrounded by diamonds."

"She's probably trying to echo the understated elegance of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy," quipped a seventh, in reference to recent reports that she is copying the late Bessette-Kennedy's style.

Others went in a slightly different direction. "Pawned it! Let's face it all their businesses are going bust. She's counting down to that dubious Aussie women's retreat," thought an eighth. "Perhaps she pawned it to pay the mortgage or for her jam storage," joked a ninth, as a tenth agreed: "Sold it – they are running out of funds."

Then there were those who deemed her actions ungrateful and disrespectful to her husband. "It's a shocking slap in Harry's face," slammed an eleventh. "It was a lovely ring. And thoughtful from Harry too. Just shows how little she loves him," thought a twelfth.

A thirteenth observed: "Initially she declared the engagement ring, designed by Harry, as 'perfect.' Since then, she has determined several times, 'perfect' can be improved upon." "Obviously she doesn't appreciate what she's been given or by who," thought a fourteenth.

"Obviously not good enough for her!" exclaimed a fifteenth. "Some people are never happy," added a sixteenth, as a seventeenth concluded: "She has to be in control of everything, even her engagement ring which she was clearly underwhelmed with."
