The Duchess had accused the publisher, Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), of intentionally stirring tension between her and her father by printing a private letter she had written to her father Thomas Markle last year.

Parts of her legal claim were rejected in May--namely that the paper had deliberately stirred animosity between her and her father. Duchess then agreed to pay for the cost of the strike-out hearing, which was later revealed to be the sum of $105,000.

Meghan is seeking damages for alleged misuse of her private information, copyright infringement and breach of the Data Protection Act over the paper's article, “Revealed: The letter showing true tragedy of Meghan’s rift with a father she says has ‘broken her heart into a million pieces’.”

Meghan is also embroiled with the courts to keep the identities of her close friends who acted as sources to People magazine secret. What a good friend!
