King Charles Is Begging Kate Middleton And Meghan Markle To Make Amends
According to reports, an insider claimed that King Charles is urging the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex to make amends before July – especially as the former Suits actress and the couple's two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, could also travel to the U.K.
This would be Meghan's first time in the U.K. since the late Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022. Archie and Lilibet last visited the U.K. during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.
According to Heat, an insider claimed that King Charles believes tensions within the royal family could ease significantly if Kate and Meghan were able to repair their relationship. He reportedly believes the two women are very "central" to the ongoing tension, and that the two of them mending their relationship could go a long way toward healing the ongoing rift.
"The thinking is that the wives have become emotionally central to everything. Kate has William's ear completely, and Meghan has Harry's," the insider reportedly said.
Kate Middleton And Meghan Markle's Strained Relationship
The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex have reportedly had a strained relationship almost since the beginning, with some alleged incidents recalled in Prince Harry's bombshell memoir Spare.
One of the most infamous allegations is the Princess of Wales "grimacing" when Meghan asked to borrow her lip gloss at an event in 2018. "Meg asked to borrow Kate’s lip gloss. An American thing. Meg forgot hers, worried she needed some, and turned to Kate for help," Prince Harry recalled in his memoir, adding: "Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube. Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced."
Another one of the biggest moments of tension reportedly came during Prince Harry and Meghan's 2018 royal wedding preparations, when there were alleged disagreements over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress. Both Kate and Meghan have suggested the other was left in tears after the disagreement, although we still, to this day, don’t know the whole truth!
