Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t make it easy for the royal family, constantly throwing shade and launching accusations against them often. From Meghan accusing the royal family of racism back in 2020 to Harry blaming his father for his lack of security when he visits the UK, the former royals aren’t afraid to throw the royal family under the bus.

While King Charles has taken a laissez faire approach to dealing with the Sussexes, it sounds like Prince William has other plans for when he takes the throne, and it’s reportedly a point of contention between the father and son currently. Keep reading for more information.

King Charles & Prince William Disagree On The Sussex Problem

With King Charles' health on the decline, Prince William has been quietly preparing for his ascension to the throne, and is believed to be behind many of the palace's recent decisions, including stripping the former Prince Andrew of his royal titles and officially evicting him from the Royal Lodge.

This is a prime example of William's preference for "accountability and consequences" compared to Charles' desire for a more "measured" approach, according to a source close to the palace. While William had his way with the Prince Andrew situation, it's unclear if he'll win the Sussex war.

"There is an increasingly noticeable contrast in the way William and Charles are handling 'The Sussexes problem,'" the source explained. "William's stance is understood to be much firmer and less flexible, whereas Charles appears more willing to leave space for some form of future reconciliation."

"From William's perspective, the so-called 'Sussexes problem' is rooted in a deep erosion of trust, one that has been compounded by the very public nature of the criticisms leveled at the family," the insider continued. "That, in his view, makes any straightforward path back extremely difficult."

Meanwhile, Charles is reportedly worried about "escalating tensions further," and is more focused on protecting the monarchy's "stability and public image." Ultimately, Charles has the final word on any handling of his relationship with his estranged son, but once William takes the throne, it sounds like all bets are off.

Prince Harry Criticizes King Charles' Parenting

At a recent event hosted by Movember during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's four-day trip to Australia, the father-of-two spoke about his thoughts on parenting, drawing on his experience with his own children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.

"I see parenting evolving over time," he said. "Our kids are our upgrade. Not to say that I upgraded my dad or that my kids upgraded me, but the kids that we bring up in today's world need to be upgraded."

"There's no judgement, there's no blame, there's no pointing the finger," he added. "The reality is that–however you are parenting—that is a personal experience to you, you are going to want to improve on that. Obviously, 40 years ago, there wasn’t social media, so that’s just one example of conversations that are now happening in households between kids and parents that never existed between me and my parents."

Prince Harry also spoke about the importance of therapy, explaining that before he and Meghan even had kids, he was in therapy discussing the effect fatherhood might have on him. "Certainly from a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids," he explained. "And I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with, and therefore prepare myself to basically cleanse myself of the past."

While not explicitly calling out his father, by reading between the lines, it's clear that Prince Harry thinks King Charles is at least partially responsible for the trauma of his childhood.
