King Charles has finally been reunited with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time since 2022. However, their reunion wasn’t a full family affair: while the Sussexes spent time with King Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a charity polo match, looking particularly unbothered despite previous reports that they believed King Charles’ meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was “crossing a line.” Keep reading for more information.

King Charles Reunites With Prince Archie And Princess Lili

Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lili, 5, haven't seen their grandparents since 2022, when they spent time in London for the late Queen Elizabeth's platinum jubilee. With tense relations between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family, it was up in the air whether King Charles would get to see his grandchildren at all, with Harry being accused of using them as a "bargaining tool" to win back taxpayer-funded security.

However, on July 10th, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Prince Harry and his family at Highgrove House, their private country home in Gloucestershire. No images were shared and the Palace noted there would be no further details provided.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Attend Charity Polo Match Instead

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the SMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup at Guards Polo Club. While Prince William has been in attendance of the match every year for the last 15 years, this was Kate Middleton's first time attending since 2023. Many royal fans are speculating that the Wales' wanted to put on a united front as King Charles and Queen Camilla met with the Sussexes.

According to reports over the last few weeks, both Prince William and Kate Middleton were disapproving of King Charles' decision to host Prince Harry, especially after all the bad-mouthing he's done over the last six years.

"There is a growing feeling among those closest to Kate that she has carried an enormous burden for the monarchy over the past few years," an insider explained. "She stepped up without complaint during one of the Royal Family's most testing chapters, despite facing immense personal challenges of her own."

"Against that backdrop, any move that appears to soften the stance towards Harry risks being viewed as overlooking the loyalty and sacrifices she has made," the source continued. "It's less about resentment and more about the principle of standing by those who have remained committed to the institution."

Prince William isn't very pleased either. "William is furious and also sees this as crossing a line," the insider added. "From his perspective, the damage caused over recent years by the Sussexes has been too great to simply brush aside."

"He believes public confidence in Harry and Meghan has been irreparably damaged and that there is no realistic route back to a working role or wider acceptance in Britain," the source continued. "In his view, reopening that door would send the wrong message entirely after everything that has unfolded."

The Wales are not keen to forgive the Sussexes so easily, especially without an explicit apology. "Catherine's view is that reconciliation has to be earned, not assumed," the royal insider explained. "There were allegations and deeply personal comments made in public that had a profound impact, not only on individuals but on the wider family."

"Those kinds of wounds don't disappear because enough time has passed," the source added. "Trust has to be rebuilt gradually, and that is a process measured in actions rather than gestures. She is basically feeling utterly betrayed by Charles after her years of loyalty."
