Prince William and Kate Middleton take their duties as the Prince and Princess of Wales very seriously. The royal duo just posted a video on their Instagram account for Dewi Festival Day, or Saint David’s Day, the patron saint of Wales, and in it, Kate Middleton speaks Welsh for the very first time alongside her husband, who can’t help but crack the smallest of grins while Kate is speaking. Keep reading for more information.

Kate Middleton Speaks Welsh For The First Time

In the video, which is posted to the @PrinceAndPrincessOfWales Instagram account, Prince William starts the video by saying, in Welsh, “To everyone in Wales, a very St. David’s Day.” Then, Kate says, also in Welsh, “Wales is very close to our hearts, and we look forward to every visit.”

“It is a beautiful country with a rich history and wonderful people,” William continued, and Kate added, “Wishing you a day of celebration with family and friends.” The Prince and Princess stand next to one another, William dressed in a blue suit with a red and blue striped tie, and Kate in a stunning red and black plaid dress with buttons down the front and large lapels. Each is wearing a yellow daffodil pin, which is a symbol of St. David.

Throughout the whole video, though, during the brief periods when Kate is speaking, it looks a little bit like Prince William is trying his very hardest not to laugh, fighting to keep the corners of his mouth from turning up.
