Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was just three days into her maternity leave when she made the choice to return to her duties following the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a choice that fans of hers are calling “brave” and “selfless.” Keep reading for more information.

Karoline Leavitt Comes Out Of Maternity Leave

On April 24th, Karoline Leavitt, 28, announced she would be stepping away from work and beginning her maternity leave ahead of the birth of her second child. However, just days later, an active shooter broke into the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Saturday night and opened fire. Luckily, no one was hurt, but Leavitt still saw it as a call to action.

On April 27th, Leavitt posted to her official X account that she’d be holding a Press Briefing later that day, despite having just announced she would be stepping back. While she hasn’t officially announced the birth of her second child, some reports are saying she welcomed baby #2 in late April or early May.

“OMG Karoline, I thought you were going on Maternity Leave!” another said. “You are a loyal soldier and no one questions your grit!”

“You need less stress at this moment for your family!” said the next. “Thanks for your commitment but take a break please!”

“Karoline, stepping up for the briefing while expecting any day now is impressive,” a final user wrote. “Wishing you strength today and a smooth deliver soon.”
