Justin Trudeau is being mocked on social media after showing off his dance moves in a viral TikTok posted by girlfriend Katy Perry to promote her new single, “Watch It Burn.”
The 54-year-old former Canadian Prime Minister’s brief appearance in the clip quickly divided viewers, with some branding his moves “cringe” and “shameful,” while others defended him for simply having fun now that he’s no longer in office.
The world has remained fascinated by Trudeau’s relationship with the 41-year-old “Roar” singer ever since they were first spotted together at a restaurant in 2025. While the unlikely romance has continued to generate headlines, many people were surprised to see Trudeau embracing Perry’s pop star world by appearing in one of her TikTok videos and enthusiastically joining in with the choreography. If you want to call it that…

Justin Trudeau Shows Off His Dance Moves In Katy Perry’s TikTok Video
The short promo video shows Trudeau, dressed in a casual beige outfit, jumping across the screen with several other people, while the one-time astronaut sings in front of the camera. Blink and perhaps you might miss him! It’s one of several TikToks the singer has posted to promote “Watch It Burn,” with each video featuring Perry in a different outfit and location as various friends and collaborators dance across the screen behind her.
The father of three, who shares sons Xavier and Hadrien and daughter Ella-Grace with his ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire, appears to be having a great time in the clip and not taking himself too seriously. And that left the internet divided!
Some viewers argued that his dancing – or “bouncing,” as one person described it – was too “cringe” for a former world leader, even if he no longer holds office. Others, however, said there was nothing wrong with him showing off his playful side now that he is a private citizen.

Fan Comments
"So cringe!" exclaimed one person on a YouTube video discussing the TikTok clip. "Cringe for sure!" agreed a second. "Trudeau is shameful!" echoed a third, while a fourth slammed: "Even in his absence he's an embarrassment to Canada!"
"'Undignified' for a dignified PM," criticized a fifth, while a sixth declared: "That man has no shame and a very very obvious midlife crisis! The worst part – this is actually where he belongs! He never belonged to politics (his results as PM show that.)"
Others came to his defense, however, with many saying there was nothing wrong with the lighthearted video or his relationship with the former American Idol judge. "Katy Perry is a bit wacky, so it seems he's just matching her energy. She's a big music star, and he might be enjoying the different attention," observed one fan in his defense.
"Who cares what he does now that he is no longer PM? He is a private citizen. Let him be silly if that's what he wants," wrote a second, as a third demanded: "Let him have fun." "That's his personal life and he is happy," added a fourth.
A fifth gushed: "The way she looks at him as he hops by. True love! I just hope they continue doing this despite what the media says. Cheering for Katy and Trudeau! Keep being happy and loving life! Let all the scoffers bore themselves with no happiness."
