The popular morning talk show covers a variety of topics and situations, but a part of the day that many audience members look forward to is Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. The special show, previously hosted by Hoda Kotb and the former president’s daughter, has undergone a lot of changes since Hoda’s departure last year.
Sheinelle Jones, a reporter and news anchor from Philadelphia, took Hoda’s place as the new co-host this January. Though she and Jenna have seemingly had a good rapport, fans couldn’t help but notice some undeniable tension in a recent segment surrounding wedding dresses.
Last week, the two women began discussing Sheinelle’s relocation from Philadelphia to New York, when she revealed that while going through seemingly unassuming old boxes and suitcases in her basement, she found her wedding dress. The dress was an especially sentimental item, given that her husband, Uche Ojhe, lost his battle to brain cancer last year. As the co-hosts began discussing wedding dresses and wedding dress preservation, Jenna continually interjected with small anecdotes about her experience.
“What do you do to preserve it?” asked the 44-year-old host as Sheinelle expressed regrets about not preserving her gown. “I don’t think I preserved mine. It’s not like jam.”

'Today' Fans Slam Jenna As 'Tone Deaf' & 'Immature' After Viewing The Segment
After a clip of the two women discussing the NBC reporter's wedding gown being taken out of storage went viral on social media, there were some fans of the show who had an issue with it.
On platforms like Instagram and Reddit, some users left comments on how they felt Jenna was consistently "interrupting" her co-host with her own stories and takes, as well as trying to derail the more serious feeling of the story, which they found especially "tone deaf," given the recent death of Ojhe.
"Jenna REALLY needs someone to tell her not to interrupt Sheinelle CONSTANTLY," wrote an angry viewer on Reddit. "Sheinelle finding her wedding dress after her husband died is not the equivalent of Jenna looking for hers/asking her mom."
"I think that's pretty tone deaf of Jenna to make Sheinelle's husband's death about herself!" responded a user.
One user accused Jenna's behavior of being "insensitive," with another adding it was "quite condescending."
"Like jam?" asked a user on Instagram. "What? Jenna is so immature."
"Jenna once again completely disengaged that Sheinelle just lost her husband, but as usual, it's all about Jenna," wrote another. "Stop interrupting and talking over [everyone] Jenna! Beyond infuriating."
