JD Vance Brags Over Won Argument

Vance made the remarks back when Usha was pregnant with their fourth child, Alec, who they welcomed in July. He was speaking about jobs and the economy at an event in Michigan, and paused to thank his wife for attending.

“I remember when we decided to run for vice president, I said, honey, I really want to have a fourth kid,” he recalled. “And she said, well, you can become vice president, or you can have a fourth baby. But ladies and gentlemen, I am persuasive because I got both,” he joked.

Vance repeated the story again after Alec was born at a rally in Maine back in August. He recalled again that Usha told him, “You can be vice president or you can have a fourth child,” before making the same joke that he was “pretty, pretty, persuasive.”

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, users quickly criticized Vance for blatantly disrespecting his wife's desires. "So he did whatever he wanted and ignored his wife's preferences," one person wrote on Instagram. "Sounds like the patriarchy is strong in JD."

"What an achievement," another person said. "Let's hope he's a better father than a VP."

"That's just gross," said another.

"Weird flex...but okay," another comment reads.

"Bragging about disregarding his wife’s wishes, on brand," added another user.

"Why does he make such weird statements about his wife and family in general?" asked the next.

"Not sure why he thinks this is something to be proud of," said another user.

"So he did not listen or respect his wife's decision, got it," a final user said.
