Summertime is officially around the corner, which means everyone’s booking their upcoming vacations and getting ready to use their phones during most of it.

Smartphones have become an important part of summer vacations, with people using them for navigation, to take photos and videos, and to purchase tickets, etc. Because these devices are so involved in our vacations, it’s important to make the most out of them and protect them with certain tech accessories. Using some information from a tech industry pro, we’re listing three “essential” travel accessories you should grab for your iPhone before summer vacation.

1. Mobile Cooling Plate

Most tech experts would agree that heat is the number one enemy to most iPhones, and when the summertime rolls around, they certainly get in touch with a lot of heat. Whether it's leaving your phone in the sun on a beach or having a lot of different apps open at once while trying to choose where to go next, iPhones can easily overheat on vacation.

"Travelers are increasingly having issues with their devices overheating during travels in the summer," says tech expert Alexandra Hayes. "This is especially evident in the use of travel-related apps that work/burn a lot of travel data, GPS, mobile hotspots, and a travel camera all in one. Clip-on cooling pads help travelers mitigate more dim, lagging, and drained batteries."

2. Camera Grip Attachments

Unless you have a passion for photography and like making room in your bags for actual cameras, you're likely using your iPhone to take all of your vacation photos and videos. This can be great, but it can also be limiting, as you're only using the height of your arms and risk dropping your device. This is why it's great to bring a portable attachment to optimize your experience.

"Travelers can snap and use secure camera grips to rest their hands, decreasing the likelihood of their camera grip falling out of their hands," explains Hayes. "This is so much more convenient for travelers than carrying separate mounts and grips."

3. AirTag Compatible Passport and iPhone Wallets

One of the biggest scares when it comes to bringing technology or any other valuable things on vacation, from your wallet to your passport, is losing them or having them stolen. That's why Apple's AirTags, the tiny devices that can help you keep track of the exact location of your things, are great. However, you need to make sure you have the accessories you need to keep them attached to your items.

"Travelers also prioritize retrieval and tracking over storage the most," adds Hayes. "Wallets with storage for an AirTag help travelers keep their must-haves (phone, ID, passport) while they travel and are very helpful for a busy/stressed traveler. Traveling while losing a phone may be the worst situation a traveler can find themselves in. Bank-related apps, travel passes, and boarding are all contained in a single device."
