Gwyneth Paltrow‘s latest Goop campaign is getting plenty of attention—but not just for the furniture.

To promote Goop’s new home collaboration with CB2, the mom of two posed in a series of editorial-style images inspired by Parisian and Italian modernist interiors. One photo in particular quickly went viral after it showed Paltrow wearing a tailored cream skirt suit with an oversized silver lampshade placed over her head.

For the shoot, the actress wore a $995 off-white linen blazer from her own fashion label, Gwyn, paired with a coordinating midi skirt and a matching low-cut tank underneath. She finished the monochromatic look with a bold red manicure and pedicure, adding a pop of color against the neutral palette.

The photo appears on slide 7 of the embedded Instagram post below.

Gwyneth Paltrow Fans Confused By Her Goop x CB2 Collab

Announcing the collection, Goop and CB2 wrote:

“Rooted in the elegance of Parisian interiors and the sculptural language of Italian modernism, the Goop x CB2 collection celebrates exceptional materials, timeless forms, and enduring craftsmanship. From plush velvet to hand-carved Italian marble, each piece is made to be lived with, loved, and collected for years to come.”

While the dramatic lampshade isn’t part of the collection, the rest of Paltrow’s outfit is surprisingly easy to recreate.

The look embraces the “quiet luxury” aesthetic, relying on tonal dressing, natural fabrics, and clean tailoring. To achieve a similar vibe, opt for an ivory or off-white linen blazer from brands like COS, Mango, or Reformation, paired with a coordinating midi skirt and a fitted tank in the same color family. Matching shades of cream and choosing fabrics with visible texture are what make the outfit feel elevated rather than plain.

Moving along, many fans appreciated the artistic direction of the campaign, but others were left scratching their heads over the lampshade styling.

“Yikes,” one Instagram user commented. Another wrote, “Why? Like actually, why?” Others added, “Nope,” “Ugh why?” and “What is going on in that lampshade photo?”

The collaboration arrives during a period of change for Goop.

According to a May report from Puck, the company recently laid off fewer than 20 employees as it shifts toward AI-powered workflows. Puck reported that, “Goop, like many companies, is adapting to a shifting landscape and finding new ways to operate more efficiently.”

Despite the company’s challenges, the Marty Supreme star has said leading Goop remains one of the most rewarding parts of her career.

Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Up About Running Goop

Speaking to Elle in March 2025, she said:

“My favorite job is probably running Goop. It’s so dynamic. I’ve had to learn so much, it’s so creative, and it also requires so much discipline and ongoing education.”

Over the years, Goop has faced criticism for promoting controversial wellness products and pseudoscientific health claims, while reports have also alleged the company fostered a difficult workplace culture.

Paltrow addressed the ongoing scrutiny in the same interview, saying:

“What I’ve learned over time is that if you are living in integrity, and you are putting out a product that fulfills its intention and is what it says it is, you move through controversy. Because most of the time, it’s projected on you, and maybe it’ll be advantageous for a competitor, or maybe it’s clickbait for media companies. But I really feel that if you’re true to yourself and making products in integrity, it does pass very quickly.”
