It's no secret that the President of the United States often has a lot on his plate, meets and interacts with numerous people on a daily basis, and overall, works a pretty tiring job. Still, he's not expected to fall asleep on the job.
Earlier this week, on Monday, the former NYC real estate mogul sat in the Oval Office and met with women who did a presentation on updates and new data related to maternal health, like reducing maternal mortality rates in hospitals, etc. However, as the presenter talked, the president sat at his desk, and in a viral clip filmed by members of the press, he seemed to fall asleep.
Trump stayed relatively still at his desk, motionless, with his eyes completely closed. You can see a clip of the viral moment here, and note the people behind him staring at him, seemingly catching onto his dozing off.
Social Media Users Slam Donald Trump's Falling Asleep
Though this incident was pretty intense and shocking to some, there were also many social media users who weren't too surprised to see it, as the Apprentice star has been caught dozing off during other occasions over the last year.
However, this instance certainly rubbed people the wrong way and hit a nerve, considering the White House presenters were going over a very serious topic, and instead of stirring, he looked as though he was fully unconscious. Users expressed outrage over the situation on platforms like X.
"Trump fell asleep with his face drooping in the Oval Office during a meeting today," wrote a user. "This is a real video that should concern every American. He's not fit to serve."
"He is in a worse shape than Sleepy Joe," noted another, referring to the president's harsh nickname for Joe Biden.
One user called him "Don Snoreleone," based on the Godfather character, and another called him "Sleepy Don."
"He is decaying before our eyes," speculated a user.
"What a disgrace," added another.
We'll be curious to see if Trump manages a decent excuse for his falling asleep at one of the most important desks in the world. But for now, people online and around the world still can't seem to take the idea of a president and world leader falling asleep on the job.
