Donald Trump is no stranger to insulting people, especially women. Over the past two years, he’s called female reporters “piggy,” “nasty,” “ugly,” and “terrible,” among other things, in responses to very straightforward questions about his political choices. Most recently, he called MS NOW reporter Akayla Gardner a “dumb person” for asking about the cost of his ballroom in the White House. Keep reading for more information.

Donald Trump Gets Defensive Over White House Ballroom

Standing outside the White House earlier this week, Donald Trump faced questions from a number of journalists, including one from Akayla Gardner about his ballroom project, the budget for which recently doubled in cost. In a very typical non-responses, Trump explained that it’s both “on budget” and “under budget,” and also “ahead of schedule.”

“I doubled the size of it, you dumb person,” he then said to Gardner directly. “Double the size. You are not a smart person.”

Seconds later, another female reported asked about rising inflation numbers and if his policies were actually working, to which he responded. “They’re working incredibly. If you go back to just before the war, for the last three months, inflation was at 1.7%. Now, we had a choice. Let these lunatics have a nuclear weapon — if you want to do that, then you’re a stupid person.”

“And you happen to be,” he continued, directly addressing the reporter.

Social Media Reactions

Unfortunately, this interaction is quite commonplace for the President, despite it being completely inappropriate. It's so common, that while many social media users reacted to how desensitized the American people are to Trump's rhetoric, many just made jokes, with one person writing on X, "It is an especially garish shade of orange today," in reference to Donald Trump's signature make up.

"Why is he allowed to talk to people like this?" another person asked.

"Even at my job as a WAITRESS I'd get fired for speaking like this," pointed out the next person.

"Remember when Melania last week was like 'you guys need to speak nicely,'" recalled another.

"He's got so much makeup on," another pointed out.

"He only talks like that to women journalists," noted another.

"This just looks like a child temper tantrum. It does not show strength or self control for that matter," a final user wrote.
