Donald Trump kicked off the week with a major controversy after sharing an AI-generated image that blew some people’s minds.
The president faced a lot of backlash at the start of this week after posting and then deleting an image that depicted him as Jesus Christ, healing a man in a hospital bed, surrounded by healthcare workers and more. The image was shared not long after he slammed Pope Leo XIV, and even caused numerous supporters of his to turn on him. Now, he’s claiming he had a totally different interpretation of the image, and trying to deny that it was made using AI. Read more about his response below.

Donald Trump Posts An AI Image Of Himself Portrayed As Jesus Christ On Truth Social
Yesterday, on Monday, April 13th, the president shared a Truth Social post that people around the world can't seem to stop talking about.
Though he's very well known for posting out-of-pocket, often jarring content on his specialized social media platform, which he helped in founding after getting banned from Twitter (now X) in 2024, this post started a worldwide response and online conversation. The Apprentice star posted an AI-generated image of himself depicted as Jesus Christ. He's seen levitating in the sky wearing a white robe, similar to the central religious figure.
In the photo, he's portrayed resting his hand on a hospital patient's head to 'heal' him, as he's surrounded by other personnel, like nurses, a soldier, and other Americans. There's a flying bald eagle and an American flag in the background, as well as what appear to be superheroes floating in the sky.

The Internet Reacts After President Trump Claims He Thought He Was Being Depicted As A 'Doctor' In The Photo
It didn't take long for social media users to begin circulating the over-the-top image the president shared on other platforms, quickly sparking a lot of anger and backlash. Not only did people find the image to be ridiculous and proof of his self-indulgence, but those with religious backgrounds also found his depiction of himself as Jesus Christ to be very offensive.
"This is sick," responded a user on Instagram, as another commented, "At this point, anyone following Trump must be in a mental institution."
After deleting his post, the 79-year-old addressed it outside the White House while speaking with reporters, attempting to defend himself.
"I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor, and had to do with Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support," he said, denying that the image was meant to be him as Jesus. "Only the 'fake news' could come up with that one. It's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better."
The NYC businessman also told media outlets that he thought the image had been created by "a very beautiful, talented artist." His response did not seem to make the situation better, as internet users, both liberal and conservative, continued to bash him.
"We all know he typed into ChatGPT 'make me look like Jesus,'" commented an Instagram user.
"I think Trump's explanation about the Jesus post might be more insane than the post itself," wrote another. "And I certainly did not think that was possible before it happened."
"Jesus Christ, MD," joked a user, as another added, "I forgot the passage when Jesus Christ threatened to destroy a full civilization," referring to his recent post about the war in Iran.
"Every day the line moves even farther away from what we thought was normal behavior," responded a user. "When will people finally say 'enough?'"
