Donald Trump has been preparing for America’s 250th birthday this summer, though he seems to have misunderstood what’s being celebrated. Rather than planning events that simply appreciate American history, he’s turning many of the events into pro-Trump gatherings, including the Great American State Fair on the National Mall.

While many artists were happy to perform when they believed it was a non-partisan event, most have dropped out after realizing it’s a pro-Trump concert. As a result, Trump wants to “cancel” the entire thing. Keep reading for more information.

Donald Trump Cancels America's 250th Birthday Concert

Artists including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, and members of The Commodores have publicly backed out of the concert, many of them explaining that they thought they were signing up for a non-partisan event. After finding out it's a pro-Trump event, they backed out.

In response, Trump took to Truth Social to suggest cancelling the event all together, replacing it instead with "a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY."

He then doubled down, calling the artists set to perform "overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain."

"Cancel it, just like I canceled my involvement with the failing and unsafe to be in Kennedy Center, because a Highly Conflicted, Crooked Federal Judge, said that I should not be allowed to spend my time and money in order to MAKE THE CENTER GREAT AGAIN, actually, far greater than it ever was before!"

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, users were not surprised—not by the fact that artists were dropping out once they learned it was a pro-Trump event or by the fact that Trump reacted childishly. "Lmfao no one wants to be apart of his loser *** concert," one person wrote on X.

"No one wants to be remembered to be associated with Trump in the history books," another person agreed.

"What a petty, petulant, pathetic little child he is," another user posted.

"Pretty hard to have a concert when no entertainers will entertain for you," one tweet reads. "Glad they didn't sell their souls to him like everyone associated with him has."

"No one even wanted this in the first place," a final user wrote.
