President Donald Trump has had a lot of people and incidents threatening to take his life for a modern-day president, but it looks like there are certain safety measures he’s not interested in taking despite it all.
The internet is losing it after the Apprentice star told reporters that he was not interested in wearing a bulletproof vest. He was posed the question about wearing one in relation to not just the recent White House Correspondents’ dinner shooting, but also the last two assassination attempts against him. However, he stated he wasn’t into the idea of wearing one because he was worried about it making him look “heavier,” which prompted a lot of backlash and astonishment online. Read more about what he had to say and how the internet reacted below.

Donald Trump Says He Doesn't Want To Wear A Bulletproof Vest In New Interview
It's no secret that the second Trump presidency has been unlike any other. Not only is there a lot of debate and controversy surrounding his latest policies, but also numerous odd and unconventional statements made by him and other members of his staff.
Recently, he sat down to talk with members of the press, who had a lot of questions about last weekend's White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting. On April 25th, a shooter entered the Washington Hilton, where the famous event was being held, and though he was disarmed and taken into custody before hurting anyone, it was later discovered he had a manifesto with intentions to murder the president and other employees in his administration.
Days later, while speaking about the situation with members of the press, a reporter asked the president if he had any intentions of beginning to step out with a bulletproof vest, considering he's been through three assassination attempts.
"I don't know if I can handle looking 20 pounds heavier," he responded.

Social Media Users React To Trump's Comments
A journalist shared the clip of the 79-year-old's bulletproof vest response on X, and social media users were quick to make it viral.
Though the room erupted in laughter after the president answered the question and made the remark about not wanting to look "heavier," many social media users didn't like how he turned the situation into a laughing matter, and even speculated that making this comment could be something he'd regret in the future.
"It's comedy hour every day with this incompetent administration," responded an X user. "Sickening."
"He'd rather get shot," wrote another. "That's vain beyond human limits."
"20-lb heavier and even more dumber," joked a user.
"Really taking threats seriously, I see," added another.
We'll be curious to see if the former real estate mogul has a change of heart and starts stepping back out in some kind of gear, especially whenever the Correspondents' Dinner is rescheduled. However, he might just stay stuck in his ways.
