Dolly Parton Shares Health Update With Fans

“Thank you for standing by me and showing me so much love and support over the past year,” she captioned an Instagram video shared on Monday, May 4th, adding: “I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way! See you soon.”

The 80-year-old “9 to 5” singer wore her signature fabulous sparkly attire, consisting of a pink top layered under a black top embellished with pink rhinestones. She completed the look with matching pink eyeshadow and her hair styled in a voluminous updo. We would expect nothing less!

In the clip, she went into more detail about her health status, saying: “I have some good news and a little bad news.” She continued: “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day.”

“Now, the bad news,” the “Coat of Many Colors” musician added, “is that it’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little swimmy-headed, as my grandma used to say.”

Dolly Parton Compares Her Health Issues To 'An Old Classic Car': 'I Can't Lose My Spark'

Parton then compared her health issues to "an old classic car that once restored can be better than ever," joking: "When they raised the hood on this old antique, they realized that I need to rebuild my engine and that my transmission is slipping, my oil pan is leaking, my muffler's busted and my shocks and pistons need to be replaced."

"And for sure, my spark plugs need to be changed, because you know, as well as I know, that I can't lose my spark," she continued, before adding: "I know I'm still crazy, but they didn't mention anything about my mental health."

She previously revealed that she had kidney stones in September 2025, and referenced them again in the video. "I've told you before that I've always had problems with my kidney stones. Lord, they dig more stones out of me a year than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tenn," she joked.

"But seriously, my immune system and my digestive system got all out of whack over the past couple of years, and they're working real hard on rebuilding their strength."

Dolly Parton Cancels Las Vegas Residency

The "Jolene" hitmaker also revealed that her Las Vegas residency has now been officially canceled. It was originally rescheduled for September 2026, but has now been canceled until she is fully recovered.

When Parton originally rescheduled her Las Vegas residency in September 2025, she told fans: "I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts."

"As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures," she went on. And in classic Dolly fashion, she joked: "As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it's not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!"

She also explained why she made the decision, saying: "I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you."

She ended the statement by reassuring fans: "Don't worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet."

"Lord, protect this woman at all costs. A national treasure!" begged a fifth fan. "You are everything that is good about the world. Get well soon," wrote a sixth. "Love the classic car reference," praised a seventh, followed by a fire emoji. "Keep on taking care of you," added an eighth, followed by multiple red heart emojis.
