Demi Moore is now one of the latest celebrities to chime in on the ever-present artificial intelligence debate.
Social media users are slamming the Substance actress after she began talking about AI during this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Demi, who is a jury member for this year’s festivities, began talking about the debate surrounding artificial intelligence in the film industry and other parts of everyday life, seemingly taking the side of accepting it and learning to use it. People began bashing the actress for saying people will “lose the battle” against AI, even wondering if she’s being paid by some kind of tech company to make her statements. Read more about the situation below.

Demi Moore Says People Should 'Find Ways' To Work With AI at The Cannes Film Festival
Over the last week, the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France has been in full effect, with stars of all different callibers stepping out for premieres, red carpet photoshoots, press conferences, and more. One of the most notable faces of this year's festival is the Ghost performer, who is a jury member of the festival this year, meaning she is a specially selected person to help judge this year's film submissions and nominate them for the various prestigious awards handed out.
Therefore, Demi was asked to participate in press conferences for this year's festivities, talking about pressing events and topics in the film industry today, one of which is the growing use and accessibility of artificial intelligence. AI has become a big debate, especially in creative industries, as it's slowly making its way into post-production rooms, writing rooms, and more. Though there are lots of people against it, a handful of celebrities, from Ben Affleck to Reese Witherspoon, have defended it, and now it looks like Demi is someone to add to the list.
"AI is here, and so to fight it is to fight something that is a battle that we will lose," she said, as reported by Variety. "So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path to take. There really isn't anything to fear because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical. It comes from the soul."

Social Media Users Slam Demi For Her Takes On AI
Despite bringing up "true art forms" that stem from the creativity of human beings, hearing the Oscar-nominated actress say that people should "find ways" to work with AI triggered those who are against it.
On one side of the artificial intelligence debate, people are very much against integrating it into everyday routines, fearing it will take away jobs from people, hurt the environment, and displace certain residents due to the large data centers, and more. These people came out on social media to slam Demi in comment sections through various platforms.
"Who is paying her?" asked an Instagram user. "What is happening?"
"Cannes jury member pushing for AI is a tough start to the festival," added another.
"Another shill for AI," commented a user. "Disappointing."
"I'm boycotting any and all celebrities that are pushing these nonsense messages," added a user, tagging Demi and Reese Witherspoon.
We'll be curious to see if the backlash she received following her comments at Cannes encourages the 63-year-old to change her tune, but for now, people are still calling her out online.
