Charli XCX Steps Out At Sundance Film Festival In A Beige Mini Dress & Clear Poncho
There are only a handful of artists who have had as big a year as Charli XCX, whose 2024 album, Brat, skyrocketed her already successful pop career to new heights.
This year, following a few Grammy wins and a headline-making tour in 2025, she's on the road promoting her film, The Moment, a comedic mockumentary based on her monumental album and the process of preparing for a headlining arena tour. The film features a cast and cameos full of other big names, from Alexander Skarsgård to Kylie Jenner, and it had its world premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
Aside from attending her own movie's premiere, she also posed on the red carpet for The Gallerist, wearing an outfit that coordinated with its two leading ladies, Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman, who were dressed in light, camel-colored beige looks. Charli, however, put her spin on her look, as she wore a sand colored dress that hugged her figure and stopped just above her mid-thighs.
Over the dress, which had a more casual look to it, she wore a clear, rain poncho-cape hybrid piece, which was made from a see-through vinyl material and had white lace trim on it. The poncho included a hood, which she kept on her head. She wore her signature, long black hair down and behind her shoulders, and paired the dress with high heels in a darker beige color.
Fans React To Charli's Sundance Outfit On Social Media
It's no secret that the "girl, so confusing" singer enjoys wearing unique clothes and outfits that blend more grungy, risque pieces with sophisticated elements, stepping out in some head-turning looks over the last two years while promoting her music and going on tour.
However, this particular Sundance look, while impressively coordinated with the two successful actresses, wasn't a hit with some of her fans and other fashion critics on social media. They left comments about how they found the look to be "weird" and that she could do better.
"Is Charli queuing for the River Rapids at Disney?" joked a fan on Instagram, referring to her poncho.
"Charli, baby, what was that?" asked another.
One user asked, "Why does Charli have a raincoat?" as another wrote the outfit was "disappointing" on her.
"Charli looks like she's gone to see Niagara Falls but wanted to look chic," joked a fan.
Despite her controversial outfit, after the esteemed film festival, her fanbase continues to be super excited about her new movie, which they can see in select theaters this weekend, starting January 30th.
