Last weekend, on the 4th of July, Carrie headlined a performance at the John Deere Classic PGA Tour tournament in Silvis, Illinois. Instead of a traditional tour stop, she took the stage to perform in a show that was included in admission to the golf tournament, and took place at the space’s amphitheater. According to reports, she sang her classics, like her 2005 breakup anthem “Before He Cheats,” and more.

Social Media Users Claim Carrie’s MAGA Ties Are To Blame For Her Small Crowd Size
After footage of the award-winning golf course performance went viral on social media, it didn’t take long for users to begin chiming in. Though there were many fans of hers who expressed a lot of pride, others were less than impressed.
Over the last few years, Carrie’s career has undoubtedly taken a bit of a hit, which began when she started subtly showing support for President Donald Trump. Most notably, she was selected and chose to perform at his 2025 inauguration, and since then, has received backlash for hinting at her more right-leaning political views.
Therefore, when he small golf course performance went viral, users online expressed that her MAGA affiliations and political beliefs could be to blame for her sudden switch in venues.
